El_Caz: So, how does Direct2drive work? Same as GOG except with DRM included on some games and regional restrictions on other games, but other than that, it's the same? Download anytime you want, keep an installer on your hard drive (which i assume I can back up on a dvd?) Any tricky shenanigans I should be aware of?
captfitz: You've got it figured out completely. They badge the DRM-free ones, and the only real difference is that the site only gives you something like 3 activations on your games automatically. You have as many as you want, but after 3 or so you have to email them for more.
At least I've heard that. I have yet to install and uninstall a single game three times. Also, they have the fastest DD servers, which is a huuuuge plus compared to services like GamersGate.
D2D had HORRIBLE speeds for Europe till few months ago. Recently they seem to have mostly fix them.
I only have a 24mbt connect with about 14 real speed. I get that from all the stores depending on server load and time.
For example Gamersgate's better times are in the early morning, Steam in the middle of the night, Gog evenings, D2D late night.
