I wish i had taken a screenshot of the activation window, but i didn't. It doesn't look anything like those though, it's a black window and i'm under the impression it says 'ActiveMark' or something similar at the bottom but i can't be sure. The activation process connects to 'activation.directt2drive.com'
Edit: Ok, so i had my cup of coffee and my brain began to work. I iinstalled it on another machine to get a screenshot of the activation window. So that's 3 now ;)
Yeah, same here. I wanted to try it for a while now, and at this price i ran out of excuses not to ;)

How bad are the bugs in Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth on Vista 64bit?

I don't think the bugs are OS dependant, i'm more inclined to think that the bugs are present for any OS, as i believe the company went under before the PC port was finished and well, we all know how that usually works out. I think there's one or two fan made patches, but i haven't looked into it yet.
I'm not aware of any specific problems with 64 bit OS's and since it seems to work well (so far at least) on Win7 i'd expected it to fare equally well on Vista, but i really can't say for sure.

Ok, so it is this one. I haven't heard anything about it before but I hope it doesn't install a rootkit like other DRMs.

I'm not familiar with Trymedia or activemark, but i suspect if there was anyhing extreme, like rootkit behaviour, about this DRM we'd know about it by now. As far as i can tell, it looks like a plain online activation handled directly by D2D's servers, but if you're worried doing a bit more research before deciding on a purchase can't hurt.

Didn't know Trymedia = Activemark. I believe Dreamfall was released as a digital download via Trymedia at the same time as physical. My experience of Activemark is ok...Just Cause, Rome Total War, Prey, KOTOR and Monkey Island use it on D2D. They only allow 5 activations and then you have to contact them via support to get more (free). It's annoying when that happens, which is why I only buy digital games cheaply.

When you say you have to contact 'them', you mean D2D, and not some other 3rd party, right ?
I have very few games from D2D and that includes a couple of indie ones which are DRM free, so i was never faced with the situation of running out of activations.

Yeah you go to D2D's support section.

Ok, thanks. I still don't like it, the limitd activations i mean, but if it goes through D2D directly i assume there won't be much of a problem getting more activations if i ever ran out, and considering the price of this particular game, well, i can live with it really.
