I have Uplink, and I played the demo for Hacker Evolution, and based on that, I'd say Uplink is worth it, while Hacker Evolution isn't. Uplink felt like a sandbox simulation of Hollywood hacking; Hacker Evolution felt to me like a single-solution puzzle game with a "hacking-like" interface (which might be fine for many people, just not for me).
Then again, I remind you that I've only played the demo for Hacker Evolution. It's possible that the full version has more options, or more flexibility in the solutions for each of its missions.
Now if I could play a Hollywood hacking game that has the sandbox-like quality of Uplink, with a (optional) command-line interface like Hacker evolution, I'd be a very happy geek. ;)
