I wouldn't bother. It sounds like they far too ambitious with what they wanted to do, and the game suffered for it.
If anything, I'd look at Arsenal of Democracy. It's a heavily modded version of HoI 2 Complete...looks like it made some nice changes to the game engine.

I would suggest anyone thinking about ordering from atari.com to reconsider. I purchased two games: boiling point and the witcher: enhanced edition and when i check the order online it lists two boiling points being sent together.
Then when i try to contact customer support the form is broken. After looking in the atari forums it appears that no one is able to contact customer support and the moderator there suggests that anyone having problems with their order should contact their credit card company.
Proceed with caution.

Atari has absolutely no technical support whatsoever. None at all. That would be why you're not hearing from them. They never have had any. But now they're selling games direct that really should have changed.

If the game that is Deus Ex 2 were ever released, but never claimed to have anything to do with Deus Ex, would it still be such a bad game? I'm just wondering if it is worth it if you go in without the expectation that it will be anywhere near as good as Deus Ex 1.

Definitely not. I played IW before ever playing the first Deus Ex and found it to be a great actiony FPS. I did not understand at all why people were getting so down on it. Then I played Deus Ex and began to understand. When comparing the two, IW is not a worthy successor to the first Deus Ex game, but on its own it is not a bad game at all.
