You probably spend just as much time there if not more than some of us here. You're always there to jump at Steam's throat :)
And this forum is not the 'anti-drm' forum you think it is. Some of us are here because of the games, not the DRM.

Pretty sure you post on Steam forums, too. And, as Pheace notes, a lot of are here because we like good ol' games (and not garbage console ports), crazy right? Doesn't mean I have to declare jihad on GabeN. But I know a lot of people here think Steam is a bigger threat to the games industry than stuff like Mass Derpfect and Call of Derpies so... carry on.

I am not so against Steam per se, but, I would love to see how it works in 10 or 15 years time with games requiring windows 95/XP to run, and Steam itself requiring Windows 9 or whatever to run. Similar issue with most DRM other than simple CD-Check. Unless of course someone believes that either Valve or the publisher of said titles will keep supporting the games in a decade or so. That's where the Steam and other DRMs problem is.

Steam is the easiest drm to crack so just keep a crack with your backup. Easy as that.

This is not a Stem *minus* but a GOG *plus*. Your old games that you bought 10 or 15 years ago on retail do not work on newer systems either without heavy tinkering from third party products. I guess the farthest Steam will go regarding this issue is put a warning (or more like a tiny little line of text in the system requirements) telling you what systems the game runs well in, but there's really no reason for a distributor to update its catalog of old games when that should be te publisher's job if they want to keep selling it. Now, regarding the Fantasy Wars deal on Steam... It says the game needs 12 gigabytes of hard drive space. It just HAS to be a mistake. The GOg version is only 1 Gig and Elven legacy and it's expansions are 3 gigs each and those are newer games.

Fortunately, just about every game that runs on Win2k will also run on XP+. However, this may not be the case in the future. It's possible that when Valve eventually drops support for everything but Win8+, you'll be left with old games that are impossible to run without cracking.
Steam is normally pretty benign as far as DRM goes, but it too can get in way.
