Would the US expansion packs work with the UK version of The Sims 3?

A pretty fine game. Especially for that price. But WTF is going on with the pricing of the first game? It actually costs more than the second one at full price.

My thoughts exactly.

I was thinking the same, but I just checked again and it looks like they dropped it to $10...

I think I remember something about Mexico or a government there, banning the game there.

Nah, you're thinking of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. The dumbass governor of Chihuahua requested that all copies of the game be seized, but nobody gave a fuck because people are not that stupid. Except politicians, of course. We don't ban videogames.

And GRAW 2 is available on Steam so that can't be it.

But then again, 2K Games hid most of their catalog for me for several years... so who knows.

This is not really a sale but price of Avadon: The Black Fortress at GamersGate was significantly dropped recently (were around 15-20€/£/$ I think).

New prices:
UK: £5.95
EU/US: €6.95 / $9.95

Exceptionally US price is little bit higher than than EU/UK price :-p. Well, at current conversion rates anyway.

That's the price it's been on Steam since it's launch. It's the price Steam recommended to him but he has been hesitant to use it everywhere. It's still $20 on his site.

I am pleased to see this price point continuing and expending to other stores. It's definitely better for us consumers.

If you want some more background read the author's blog post about Avadon coming out on Steam:

lightnica: *snip*
I'm well aware of the circumstances, just did not want to advertise Steam :-p. And it's good that he decided to drop price elsewhere. I was pretty shocked initially when he announced the steam price as it, at the time, seemed that he would favour Steam over other services.
There is a Mass Effect sale on GamersGate. The only problem is it's N/A only.
I've got a copy of Avadon: The Black Fortress for 8 dollars if anyone's interested. Steam Gift (evil laughter)
