dyscode: BTW: and DON`T get Alpha Prime! IT´s the same corridors and the same guys for the whole Game until the VERY END. The ONLY fun part is where you drive over the surface of the Mars or what ever. The Endfight (the only boss fight) is punch in you face. It is def NOT worth your TIME.

dandi8: I respectfully disagree. Alpha Prime may not be the best shooter but I enjoyed it thoroughly to the very end. If you don't come in expecting a polished AAA game you may well find some good fun. It's cheesy, it's corridor-shootery, but nonetheless I think it's fun. I also like the atmosphere.

So anyone thinking this game is not for him may want to reconsider. I am (for some reason) a fan of Alpha Prime. For me, it was a very enjoyable game.

BTW. I'm too lazy to check the price but I bought it for about $2-3 and thought it was a good price.
Hard to argue with tastes :) but other budget titles like Chaser are a firework of ideas and innovation where Alpha Prime ist just blank corridors.
Well maybe it´s enough to say that AP belongs to the amazingly short list of games I cant`t ever be bothered again with in my life. Among the other games are Red Faction 2 and Deus Ex Invisible War. It´s rare that I really felt robbed of my lifetme time by a game. The $1.24 you pay, the $1 Ipaid for it aren´t the point.
Even compared to most other B-Grade shooter. And I played some of them.

Heck, I just wasted another 5 minutes of my life thinking writing about them. Damn it.

Totally worth it then, if you can look past its flaws. Mind you, if you have never enjoyed a B-grade shooter before, you might have trouble with this one. Watch a few gameplay vids/reviews about the game on YouTube. Not giving this game at least a small benefit of doubt would be a mistake in my opinion :)

I totally give you this: RF2 Is SO MUCH WORSE than Alpha Prime. :)
Alpha Prime is a fine FPS. It's not first class, but it's a joke to even consider not getting your money worth of FPS if you buy it for a couple of dollars. Please...
It can be very difficult though, so don't expect the easiness of CoD and co. You also have to get "first aid" and do not regenerate health. It's an ok FPS, just not very good.
The graphics are fine, they were very good when released, the sound is fine the music is fine. It's average, not bad, and it has a higher difficulty curve than most modern FPS out there.

Screenshot don't look too good imho.
Played this for review when it was released. It was fun, but missed the mark. It had grand ideas that would have worked well in an MMO but weren't fleshed out enough during a 10hour game. I'd say try something different.
What do you guys think of Nikopol? It's 75% off currently.

Don't forget the script, acting, ethnic stereotypes, and nonstop sexism. It approaches Ed Wood quality without his open-mindedness.

I found it boring too. It will please some people but probably not a majority.

How does Nikopol compare to Scratches? I had a great time with the latter and would love to find something similar.

Nikopol is - from what I read - really mediocre. The Atmsophere is ok, but the puzzle are basically non-deductive. aka there is mostly no logical solution in combineing objects.

There is

-Amber: Journeys Beyond,
-Dark Fall: Lost Souls and
-Darkness Within,
which should be closest to Scratches.

Also in this categore but a bit different.
- Necronomicon: The Dawning of Darkness and If you can live with the old graphics
- Phantasmagoria and
- Post Mortem should be fine too.

On the 3D side there is
- Still Life (sequel to Post Mortem) maybe.
If you havn´t, check out
- Amnesia: The Dark Decent. This is the scariesest non combatative game I´ve ever played.

so far :)
