lowyhong: Shit and it's only been out for a month. GBX must be getting really mediocre sales from DNF.
Rumour has it that Steam has full control of sale discounts. But yeah, I doubt they'd be putting that up as a daily deal at that kind of discount without Gearbox's consent. Speaks volumes, that.

CymTyr: Also, not sure if anyone mentioned it, Duke Nukem Forever is on sale today on Steam in the US store for $24.99 - not getting it myself, gonna wait for thanksgiving sale when it will be ~$10-15, just throwing it out there.

Yeah from what I've seen it's sold less than expected, but considering it was thought up what, 12 13 years ago? The whole concept is dated. I have a sneaking suspicion the world would have been better off without it.... Frankly I'm surprised the women's lib groups haven't started complaining about it.

They said something along the lines of being on pace for 1.5 million sales vs the 3 million sales they anticipated.

Hmm 1.5 million sales is not bad. It was worth it for Gearbox to finish putting it out...

Still on the fence about us players, though. I know I'll like it, because it's Duke, but... idk something is telling me to wait.

If you have the money go ahead. It's been slated because it could be; people were expecting something amazing -- and it is -- it's just they compare it too much. If you're the kind of person who can take Duke for what he's worth then you'll be fine with it and enjoy it. It's quite sad that it was taken the way it was.

1.5 million wouldn't be so bad on one platform but as a multiplatform game, it's not so great.

You really should wait. Just remember, HL2 was $2.49 last week. This game costs ten times that. Would you pay ten times for a vastly inferior game?

Yeah, I already made up my mind. I'm definitely getting it, just not right now. I used $7 of the $25 I have left for the holiday sales and bought 3 copies of Earth 2150, which have all been claimed. I figured that's almost a quarter of the cost of DNF currently, and 3 people who maybe don't have the funds to buy themselves a great game now own it.

IMO the poor sales were in part due to bad reviews by people who didn't play the originals or overhyped it that had a large part to do with it's poor sales. Just like Daikatana's poor sales were due at first to it's poor ad campaign and marketing/reviews.

yeah some reviewers are coming out as saying they'd never played the originals and were expecting some truely earth shattering because of the hype from their co-worker/the net.
I have some friends who own it they say it's as cheesy and as crude as the original and a decent game but the weapons limit annoyed them cause it stopped it being a true old school game.
Just noticed that Terraria (Steam Sale) is now priced 4,99€. Lucky me I bought it three hours ago when it was 2,49€ :-)

Yeah, it was -50% from beginning on splash screen so probably it was just bug. Lucky for us :)

For the Duke?

Because I've seen indie developers say they gave permission to steam for certain discounts before.

Apparently there is a Ubisoft sale on gamers gate. The best deal being Assasins Creed 2 normal edition is $3.74 and the delux for 4.99
