GR00T: But, this is also the only one I backed that I figured might not see the light of day either.
Same here. The concept really sounds great, but I always thought: "Way too complex, probably not possible for a small indie game studio."

grynn: I have got a massive backlog so I simply can't wait for a new release. I think I need like 10 years without a game release to catch up.
This.
My biggest wait was for Duke Nukem: Forever, I am still happy with how it turned out, I followed the game since 1999 and was well aware of all the changes and omissions and had zero reservations going in... im pleasantly surprised and still very happy with how it all turned out.

Second biggest was for Grim Dawn, I still need to playthough it completely that said i didnt beat Titans Quest for almost a year after buying it. GD lived up to and excded all expectations.. and with every update it goes further beyond anything i could have hoped for.

Next would be Brutal Legend, This was by far the biggest disappointment (lie) told in the history of gaming.... for me Brutal Legend is worse then No Man's Sky for the lies told by Tim Schaffer and the press, and even the game itself... It plays as a really well made 3rd person action RPG in the style of Psychonauts and then just as your really into the story and 100% pulled into the world the damn things turns into an RTS... not fun and short like Giants: Citizens Kabuto but a long drawn out RTS for the rest of the time... the RTS part was never mentioned once in all the promo material or by Tim during interviews... its the Donald Trump of video games :(

Diablo 3, now I was so hyped so hard i couldn't even see the world around me... the Hype train was moving full speed... and you know what? the only thing that made me feel like i was ripped off was the connectivity issues... ignoring that the game itself was perfect. I loved, and still love every moment i spend in Diablo 3.

Syberia 3. It was announced in 2009 and I'm still waiting for it.
A conclusion to The Longest Journey...

HafenkaeseLP: The Guild 3:

I was hyped back in 2014 when this game was announced and couldn't wait until 2016, the game's original ETA. Now 2017 has begun and there's still no definite release date, I'm still hyped and waiting for it to be released.
I feel you! now that I've read your post I remembered I was so excited when knew that a sequel of the Guild 2 was in development. I played the Guild 2 (so many hours lost on that game) but then the bugs was a great turn down and eventually I gave up playing, so I really hope that The Guild 3 is going to be better, if it sees the light.

After a load of patches TG2 is even playable (especially with Fajeth's MegaModPack). Nevertheless, TG3 looks so promising, so I hope the delay is worth it and the devs are fixing some bugs in the meantime..

I have another one to add to the list.

One of the reasons I bought a PS3 was Final Fantasy Versus XIII, in the end it took 10 years and it only came to the PS4 as Final Fantasy XV.

At least it was a happy ending, I loved it. The plot is a bit of a mess, but it's mostly a character focused story and the characters were definitely able to carry it. The gameplay was a big departure for the series, but it managed to be both exciting and add elements of strategy in it by allowing you to pause the action and come up with plans of attack.
Mega Man X9... still waiting!
Right now, Gran Turismo Sport is the biggest itch for me, I was expecting it last year. There's usually 3+ years between each GT game of late, so it's quite a long wait for a franchised racing game.

Stasis is a game I really looked forwards to ever since I saw Jesse Cox try an alpha-build a few years ago. It more than lived up to my expectations, the art-style and atmosphere really impressed me. As expected I'm backing their new project as well.

Homeworld Remastered Collection, once I heard Gearbox had picked up the IP. A great release, but not being a fan of Gearbox's graphical stylings I preffer the original coating.

GOG has really surprised me as well with some of their aquisitions to the store, like Imperium Galactica and Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom, and many others. Games I've been hoping would get a modern re-release.

Hivebent should be coming out very very soon. It's an adventure game based on the webcomic Homestuck. That and Underworld Ascendant are games I backed on Kickstarter ages ago and am looking forward to.
