Do you remember playing and enjoying a game at some point, but only now you realize that it really isn't as good as you thought it was?
For me, that would be Spore. I enjoyed it back when it came out (I was fairly young, too), but things changed. Not even the space stage does it for me, anymore.
Pong. It was great seeing a video game on a TV, but it's almost as fun as sweeping the beach.
There were only 2 cases for me. The first one is the first game I ever played it was pokemon red on the gameboy back then, I really thought it was great since I didn't know any other games.
The second one was that I started playing a game for a few hours at a friends hom and when I bought it and played it at home I realized how bad it was (Final Fantasy 13).

For any other game I realize very fast if I like it or not and I was never wrong by that excepting those 2 cases.

There have been some games where I toughed it out and all of the sudden, it became more fun to play. I wonder if some game designers want to see who is willing to play the game or if they're just meh players.

Tried doing that a few times, always failed. The worst was Heroes of Might and Magic 5... I just can't stand that game and even though I got past the 2 hour limit, I managed to get a refund on Steam, luckily. Obviously went back to HoMM 2 and 3, afterwards

I always complete my games even if I don't like them.
Cool topic mangame. :D This will be fun to read and relate.

I'd have to go with almost everything from the NES minus a few really exceptional titles like Metroid and Contra. I was sitting there playing Ninja Gaiden on a rom the other day wondering how the hell I use to poor so many hours into it. :P

On PC Wolfenstein 3D which I just realized isn't very much fun anymore. XD I know it's an older game but it's almost like they didn't even try to mix up the levels. They could have done something, anything, but no.

I can't think of any game really that I originally liked and then later discovered I disliked. I mean, the closest would be Allan Wake...When I first started playing it I liked it, but when I got to the end I hated it(Mainly because of it's ending)

Generally speaking though, if I like a game....I tend to still like it years and years later....There have been cases where I didn't like a game, but years later played it again and loved it...(Assassins creed and Splinter Cell being the first ones to jump out at me)
I don't know if I have enough life in me to complete *all* the games on GOG that I haven't played before!

"All of them" would be a bit much especially since there are a lot of RPGs among them.

My brother had the Nintendo NES 8-bit system and I played several games on it, only a few stuck in my mind, mainly MegaMan and Mario Bros 3.

Those which didn't survive, well, are apparently those I don't remember.

Yeah, that about clinches it. RPG's are my favorite, if only I could retire and play games. :)

Try harder.... usually those games are the crappy re-makes trying to milk off of peoples' better memories of good games on older platforms. :)

Thank you!
Old games tend to do that, if nostalgia doesn't manage to get you first!

Did you ever play Commander Keen? Yes, it was a platformer, somewhat formulaic, but did have it's randomness at times.

I still like the Keen series, but there are two issues that sometimes make me want to alt+f4:
-Older ones have weird controls (The way you shoot!)
-All of them have annoying leap-of-faith scenarios.

When I first started playing games on the PC, it was foreign to me. I grew up playing games on the Apple IIe and the TI-99/4a. Getting used to the keyboard was something that differed between any game, at least there started to become some standardization. :)
