The Red Baron pack from here. Nostalgia didn't overcome the problems I had with both titles. The first one was eventually playable with the mouse but, dang, that's a crappy way to fly a plane. I never did get the RB2 to work right.

Eador: Genesis. Not sure why a brand-new game doesn't work on brand-new hardware, but it doesn't run on my machine. Decided I'd rather play an actual game than play the How-Do-I-Make-This-Work? game.

Panzer General II. I'm too stupid or sucky to make it past the fourth or fifth scenario, and there is no "I give up, take me to the next map" option. So that's all I got to play - four or five maps even though I bought the whole game. No idea what happens after that, and I've moved on to games I might be able to win.

It's regret in the "Really wanted to play this" way, and not the "Crap - just wasted $6" way. At those prices, I can accept a few duds here and there.

Drosa: velvet assassin - Bought the CD years ago. Doesn't say anything about requiring Steam and doesn't work. Nothing but critical errors when trying to run it.
One of the first games I bought on Steam, mainly because it was so cheap and personally I thought it wasn't half bad, really dark and moody.
I had trouble too trying to run it but it was solved by installing some legacy PhysX driver.

I haven't played PG2 but I remember from the first game that it had terrible diceroll mechanics, my full strenght elite panzergrenadiers obliterated by some halfstrenght regular greenhorn infantry. :^(

snowkatt: i am rather used to offline racers i have played a lot so i am used to twitchy and unstable controls
ive played all colin mcrae games
the dirt games ( all four of them )
ralli sport challenge 1 and 2
fuel
mud
mx vs atx reflex
multiple sega rallies

and 1nsane is one fo the few i just cant twig it just wont work for me
the controls are so insane the physics so bouncy i just cant play it maybe thats the idea but if i want something like that ill eithr load up flatout or saints row ( which is insane without pretending to be otherwise )
Alright. I gotcha. I thought it might be the controller settings. It's all good.

Saints Row is awesome. Driving in SR2 is more exciting than in SR3. The handling is more lively. On foot it's SR3 by a long shot.

Can I just tell you.. I collected all those glowing things, y'know, running up buildings and leaping off skyscrapers; hundreds of them all on foot. And after I'd collected them all I looked to see the distance I'd traveled on foot and the distance I'd traveled by car. Even after collecting every single one of those glowy things I still had more distance driving in cars.

I just thought I'd share that with you since you played all those racing games thought you might appreciate it. SR4 car handling is an improvement over SR3, as well. I don't know, I'm just reminiscing and boasting. :D

i like saints row 4 ( not as much as 2 but more then 3 ) but with those super powers i tend to find very little reason to use cars anymore because im there either faster by running or its just more fun to run and jump

its like a more upbeat prototype

moto racer 2 is another offroader i like im still looking around for more offroad bike racers
Far Cry 3. Although with all the hype around the new one, a little voice in my head keeps yapping that maybe it wasn't so bad or I wasn't playing it right. But so far, it is one of my least favorite games of all time.

Spore. Just no. Totally unaware you needed the internet to play it back in the day (I lived in a hole in the ground). At the time I didn't have internetz (again, hole in ground). Got internetz to play game. Was not worth getting dial-up internetz. My introduction to DRM.

Top Gun (NES): couldn't get past landing the stupid jet, meaning I didn't get more than two minutes into the game before rage-quitting. Goooooose!

The Witcher. Sorry, I know this is like the sacred grounds for this game, but I just didn't like it at all. There was just too much going on control-wise. Potions creating and quick fight vs group fight and blah blah blah. If you step away from the game for more than a day you have to revisit the tutorial. and the sex scene at the beginning for no reason. No. It is all just silly. Silly!

Torchlight I: maybe b/c I played T2 first? Dunno, but it was very dull.

Bard's Tale: controls were so clunky I just couldn't. I was given it as a gift by my brother via steam and it didn't work. Cause everyone and their mom raved about how awesome this game was, I bought it here on gog. waa-waa.
^ just to annoy crew

myst

darthspudius: and thought id be shot down as per usual! :D lol

Oh add one to the list. Metal Gear Raiden... ass!
avatar
snowkatt: is that metal gear revengie ?

or metal gear solid 2 ?
avatar
mqstout: Same.

And Morrowind, for same. Except I never got even close to beating either.
avatar
snowkatt: ill go against the grain again

i love dungeon siege 1 ( feel so so about 2 )

dont like morrowind at alll id rather play oblivion

morrowind never clicked with me
Agree with you on the morrowind/oblivion thing

And I loved dungeon siege also, as we've discussed, but can we really say we love it since we both have yet to finish the never ending thing?

I'm kind of wary of recommending anything after the 1nsane fiasco, ha ha, but have you tried moto racer 3? It kind of reminds me of FlatOut (dear god why won't I stop recommending and making unfair comparisons?) with the precise speed and angle needed for taking and landing jumps. The game feels kind of loose and unfinished like they just shoved it out the door, but I dunno, the handling (dear god why can't I stop?) the handling feels great!

And Saints Row - those games are just unbridled fun. The writing's smart, the characters care about each other and stuff. There's humanity in the ridiculous craziness.

Ha ha ha!!! That game was the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial of Nintendo. I couldn't tell what I was looking at! Nothing made sense. Landing, psshhh, I couldn't even refuel. Good thing I borrowed it.

Genesis is the old one.
Fallout 3. One of the blandest, most terribly written, can't even stick to it's own lore excuse of a game that I've had the displeasure of playing. I want my five bucks back.

The Witcher/The Witcher 2. "Ooh look, mommy and daddy have stepped away for a second, let's curse and talk about naughty things as much as possible until they return! Aren't I so mature?" -The Witcher/The Witcher 2.

Dementium II HD. This one earned its bad reviews, even at fifty cents it was still a ripoff.
Mass Effect. I couldn't stand the bland copy and paste level design and the music puts me to sleep.

oh...my...god.... I forgot about refueling!!!!! God, worst game evah. :) We had a very, very small collection of games growing up, and stupidly, we wasted our money on it.

Sacred 2. Played Sacred Gold and loved it, bought Sacred 2 for the Xbox 360 and hated the controls and camera. Thought maybe it would be better on PC. It wasn't. Well, that's a lie. It was a slight improvement, but I still didn't care for it at all.

Elven Legacy. Aside from various technical annoyances, I found the required turns to get the best rank punishing at best, and outright ridiculous at worst. That's before you even consider optional objectives.

Soul Calibur V. Half the characters from Soul Calibur IV were missing, and the "new" characters were just the old movesets with a new character model. Story mode was awful. Severely lacked in offline game varieties compared to... well, any of the previous titles, except maybe the first which I haven't played.

Deathsmiles. Thought the graphics were kind of crappy, the hitbox dissonance was confusing, and the game overall was short and not all that fun to play.

There's more than that I'm sure, but those are what jump out at me right now.
