I watched today a video of someone that created Mechs in Kerbal Space Station using pieces from many mods and as usual that left me wanting to pilot something of the kind. Is there any good Mech game that I could find online to play? Mechwarrior Online looks like it could be great, if it had a single player mode. Only one I can remember right now is Shattered Steel on GOG.

EDIT: forgot to say, I only play on my PC (money's short), so console games don't really help right now.

Mmmh. Tough. I love mech games, but the ones I enjoyed are pretty old and I don't think they are sold digitally. But If you find them, Mechwarrior 2 and Heavy gear 2 are very cool. Teranova (more powered armors than mechs) was nice, too.

The only "modern" one I know on PC is "Front Mission evolved" (can be found on Steam), but it's pretty unspectacular.

I'll follow this thread with attention, since I'm interested too :)

Oh, and Strike Suit Zero, too. Didn't think of this one as it's more a "space fighter with Macross like transformation" game. But it's a nice one if you love missile swarms and explosions in space :)

SHOGO - Mobile Armor Division has Mech-like passages but it's more of a "normal" FPS.

Agreed, it's in my list but I'll add that I'd wait for a sale. For $5 or so I think it's worth a play if looking for mechs. I'd be much more likely to recommend over games in the series but they aren't on PC.
hawken is a first person mech rider, you should check it out!

Which is a shame. I'm in the mood for some tactical game with mechs, and I was disheartened (is this a word?) to discover this series (which got pretty nice ratings among fans of the genre) is not on PC.

First Front Mission was released in the west also, on the DS. And thankfully 5 is in english if you approve of fan translations. I think 2 is the only one not playable at all in english. But yeah OP isn't looking for that.

It's too bad none of the Armored Core games have PC releases that I'm aware of.

Oh, nice list, thank you. I actually have four of those (assuming you mean Gigantic Army instead of Attack). What I actually wanted was a game like Mechwarrior. In many of those games you can exchange the robots for humans (or ships, like Strike Suit Zero), without great loss. Mechwarrior combat was something different, it felt more "real", for lack of a better word. I had Mechwarrior 4, but left the CD in my parents' house.

But anyway, thanks. GUNHOUND looks interesting and I will keep an eye out for it. And I was already eying the Transformers games.

You're correct, I did mean Gigantic Army.

I really don't know of any recent PC games like Mechwarrior. I've seen some free ones that resemble it like MWO and Hawken but nothing single player. Armored Core is what really comes to mind, but again not on PC that I know of unless you emulate.
I can't believe no one mentioned Battletech: The Crescent Hawk's Revenge yet :D

front mission 2089 ( another DS game )
and front mission gun hazard were never released in the west
and nor was 5 ( i dont do fan translation myself too much hassle )

I did play both MWO and Hawken, but I miss having something more complex than a team deathmatch. And Hawken felt more like Call of Duty, although to be fair I never really could play it well due to lag.
Besides, in a single player game I would be able to explore better the mechs. In MWO I have limited slots and need to grind for a while just to get a new gun.

I guess I'll have to save money to buy a Playstation.
Here are a few titles:
Titanfall
Zone of the Enders 2 - The Second Runner
Steel Battalion
Assault Suits Valken( I think this one is on Snes)
Mobile Suit Gundam
Omega Boost( this is on PS, but you can get the emulator for it and play it on PC if you want)
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri

You don't need to do that. Just look for a PS emulator on google. Even if you have an old PC it will work. That's how I play my ps1 and ps2 games. on emulators.
