With free time to play games being a lot more limited for me these days, I look for a lot of games that are easy to pick up and get into quickly. Or at least give you a lot of "value" in the time that you play it.

Right now I've been playing a lot of "Pit People" and " Streets of Rogue." (Not on GoG unfortunately)

What are your favorite "pick up and play" games?

Or games that are filled with so much fun for every minute you play?

Kynseed
Mages of Mystralia
Book of Demons - not on GOG
Crusaders Kings 2
Nine Parchments
The Flame in the Flood - I recently picked this and it's goooood
Trine 2/Trine series
Crusader Kings 2 is definitely one of those "surprising" ones. So much is going on, especially with the expansions. It really feels like you are always working on something.
Oh I think there are many. Some personal favorites that are wonderfully insane timesinks:
Terraria
Don't Starve
FTL
Mount and Blade : Warband
Any of the Anno games
Any of the civilization games, e.g https://www.gog.com/game/sid_meiers_civilization_iv_the_complete_edition

Brigador
Battle Brothers
Into The Breach
Bad North
If you like strategy games, I'd recommend Civilization IV. It's very easy to get into because at the easier difficulty levels you can ignore some of the most complex mechanics or at least trust the AI automation. If you get hooked, you can raise the difficulty level and start learning new strategies -it's very rewarding to master them. Civ IV is so well designed and engaging that I would say that any time playing it is time well spent.

There is also a speed setting, so you can select "Quick" for shorter games (everything requires fewer turns to be built or researched).

I really like Into the Breach. Got sold on it form this Review . Really feels like I'm trying to save humanity. Fun to pick up just to try a round.

How is Bad North?

I also think Survival games struggle in the arena of "Wow I got a lot of 'Fun' out of my hour I played today." I do like them a lot, but when I have such a little amount of time, spending it looking for a can of beans, can be really frustrating!

Maybe you guys have a different point of view on that?

Just yesterday someone mentioned that Mini Metro fit this perfectly. It just went on sale.
West of Loathing was nice in this regard.
Into The Breach is great for quick game sessions.
Tower of Guns / MOTHERGUNSHIP
Opus Magnum
Heat Signature
One finger death punch
a good tower defense game - Gemcraft / immortal Defense / Defenders Quest
SteamWorld Heist

I've heard the end of that game is suicide inducing. :P

And are there timers on Opus Magnus?

not really. it is just very very different. when you crack the main mechanic (time only moves when you do, so think instead of act) the levels just flows. It is a bit difficult, yes, but the difficulty is figuring out the best approach. If you go into it as a "standard" FPS, then yes you will die... again and again and again...

The story is quite well implemented as well.

No, no limitations at all, neither in time, space or cost. you are completely free to figure out the solutions in your own way, any way you want.
