phaolo: You shouldn't look for games, if you want to work on a MAC.

JudasIscariot: Actually, Macs have it easy :P
I mean look at this:
http://paulthetall.com/heroes-might-magic-ii-mac/ I can only dream of having something like this on my Linux install :)
Unfortunately, that specific solution didn't work too well for me. The curious case here is that this merely installs the Win version of DOSBox to run under Wine. Not surprisingly, performance results are iffy.
I've tried to plug the game directly into Boxer. It runs but the way GOG handles its virtual CD files, which are obviously not direct copies of the original source material, can cause problems. In HoMM 2's case it is simply unable to detect a CD in game, no matter all the tweaks I've tried.
Now if GOG were to actually supply us with a fine-tuned version for Mac (and Linux) that'd be swell.
aprochno: Trying to buy a few games for my MAC laptop but when I go to check out it says the game is not compatible. What can I do here? I have downloaded Microsoft apps like word and excel onto the computer before.
As Judas has already pointed out,
paulthetall.com is an excellent source for some non-native Mac games via the use of Wine. Thanks to its depository I got games running such as Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, Rayman 2, Dungeon Keeper 2, Jagged Alliance 2, Worms 2 - hmm, that's a lot of 2s ;) - Spelunky, KotOR, Jedi Knight, Jedi Knight 2 Outcast, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Banished...
Keep in mind though that what I've pointed out previously, I would avoid any games in their database that clearly are from the DOS era as PTT has this odd fixation on doing Win DOSBox in Wine.
Some DOS games I've tried work very well just by plugging/importing them into
like Master of Magic, Settlers 2, and Star Wars Dark Forces. For that you'd need to be able to extract the necessary game files though. I have a generic blank [url=http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php]Wineskin wrapper just for that purpose.
