Mplath1: Even just to page 2 there are clearly a lot of games that reference drugs but can anyone think of games that make you second guess things or feel disoriented?...I love quite a few games that have been mentioned already (Katamari!) but I'm wondering about gaming experiences that make you question if someone slipped something in your drink, despite being in an empty house.
Did I ninja? (as opposed to stutter)

Every NPC speaks gibberish made of words, the monsters are gibberish incarnate as run through a Silent Hill filter, and level-design overlaps itself in 3D space.

Max Payne has a few scenes that evoke similar feelings to a Hollywood style bad trip.

And my other answer is quite personal, due to strong associations between the two. Need for Speed Porsche Unleashed. But that wouldn't be for anyone else out there but me.

Most games (and movies) go overboard in their attempts to do "the viewer is on drugs!" Subtlety is key.

Orkhepaj: how many of these recommenders actually experienced drugs?

visual novels/walking simulators, they will surely make you feel you are being sedated in a nursing home
For once, a rare occurrence, neither line of this post needed a downvote and actually are spot on. While I disagree with the sentiment behind the "walking simulators", it is accurate that some games [and drugs] can give a certain "calm peace".
PUSS! - The plot of this one is that you're a cat trapped in another dimension and need to avoid a lot of stuff to find your way out.

I'm familiar with Killer 7. It's certainly a trip but not quite what I'm talking about. Killer 7 is pretty wild from the first minute. I'm curious about games that sort of trick you into a lull of being normal before suddenly making you do a double take. I don't know that there are many games like this or if the medium is ideal for it. I guess something like P.T. fits a little bit. It's horror but that's beside the point. That same hallway starts doing some seriously strange things and that in itself is pretty unnerving. Subtle changes. Odd radio reports. Things moved a little or altered, sometimes in ways that you aren't positive you're just remembering wrong. There are some much more intense oddities too but I'm trying to focus less on the blatantly bizarre. Killer 7 is undeniably a trippy game but I think you see the difference of what I'm searching for.

In that case, Fallout: New Vegas comes to mind and not even for the option for in-world drug-use. If you chose the "Wild Wilderness" (memory on the name may be fuzzy) perk in character creation, it'll start with a pile of innocent red balls just sitting at the foot of a mountain. That's all I saw of it before I ditched the PS3 version, but it gets weirder and I have no idea if it's just wacky alternate skins or if game-play and/or story fallow suit.

Thanks. I have New Vegas but never got to play it too much. Life got in the way for a few years. Love Fallout though. That sounds good.
