Not quite sure at what point you can say you "quit" a game. Is this for games you've already invested a couple of hours in, or also for those that you only played for like 10-15 minutes? My case is the latter, but the reason why I feel it might be fitting to post about it here is because I actually liked what I saw and would have loved to continue - it's a stylish hardcore platformer / rhythm game with a cool soundtrack - if not for this one thing that is an absolute no-no to me:

-> The game does not save your progress on quitting, it only remembers whether you managed to beat a level by beating the boss, in which case it will allow you to start from the next level if you resume. The thing is, it neither tells you what a level is and where it ends, nor does it tell you if and under which condition it will save or not. There are obvious checkpoints in levels, but no hints about whether your position will actually be saved on quitting. The game just allows you to quit without warning, regardless of whether you think you reached the end of a level or not. You'll only find out the second time you start the game. Tbh, I half expected there to be a risk of losing progress when I quit in order to try and tackle a boss another day, but being proven right about this suspicion just tells me that this is not a game for me. Restarting boss fights is about as much repetition as I can put up with, I don't feel like repeating the whole level before them, too. This is not even a game like Dark Souls where you can try to do things differently or quickly run through the "level" to get to the boss again, you'll have to do exactly the same platforming that you did before. And beside that, I'd like to be told the conditions of saving before I quit.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed 1 & 2 (GOG)
Omg, I bought both this and Force Unleashed 2 yesterday so I would have DRM-free versions of the series and decided to beat them before I eventually get the Fallen Order. Dear god. Stay away, far far away. Just in 3 hours I'm so bored. It's repetitive, wonky and non-responsive. Yes reviews hinted at that but I thought how bad could it be? It's that bad. I'm still amazed to this day that Lucas hasn't been able to make (in my opinion) a decent action based Star Wars game (I don't play RPGs so KOTOR doesn't interest me). I'm skeptical now if Fallen Order is actually good or people's expectations are just so low after TFU1&2 + BF1&2.

I'm not going to even bother installing TFU2 because the reviews say it's worse than TFU1.

Injustice Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (STM)
I got tired of button mashing and feeling like my moves were not being registered properly on my controller. I would probably be doing a lot better on an actual arcade stick but I'm not going to invest in a stick for a genre I've never played before and probably won't enjoy.

Just quit Obduction and watched the endings on video. Basically I had the same problem mentioned here

I don't even know if it was a bug, because walkthroughs show a different scene, with screens on the walls. Without them you just can't know how to solve the thing. And while it's not that big a deal, at that moment it got me quite annoyed. Game has some good puzzles but it wastes so much time with the walking.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Was over thirty hours in. Had finished up at Mt. Bur-Omisace and was doing a bunch of hunts before continuing the story. And then poof, my motivation disappeared.

It's actually rare that I even get thirty hours into a story-based game before quitting though, so I'll give this one a thumbs up. My favorite Final Fantasy, if we're just going by playtime.
Rayman Origins.

Rayman 2 and 3 being games I like (especially 2) and after hearing all the praise, I tried it. And I don't know where to begin.

I still believe that the 3d Raymen are just better period.

I don't like the wacky art style, the game is basically just a collectathon, the ultimate goal being to 3 star every single level like a mobile game. The levels themselves are just platforms to collect the needed amount of Lums. Story seems to be just random and I quit after a few levels.

This game actually made me start Rayman 2 once again. Time for another tango, Razorbeard.

Kingdoms of Amalur: The Reckoning

I still had it on my imaginary "need to finish one day" list, so after a 5 years break I tried to get into it again, and I did get into it and played for quite a bit, and I still like the combat, the graphics, the sound design, the creatures and all, but I've also given up on the idea now that this is a game that's worth playing to the end. Maybe I will come back to it one day when I'm bored out of my skull, but frankly, there are a lot of better things to do with my time. The problem is, it's all nice enough on the surface, but there's nothing substantial below it, nothing that sticks. I just do one sidequest after another and for each one I finish, there's three more popping up, and they all have dialogues and story bits and lore attached to them and you can see a lot of work has gone into the worldbuilding, but at the same time, most of them are fetch or kill quests and the related characters and plots and places are quickly forgotten again. I guess I could just do the main quests then, but to be honest, they feel exactly the same. It's rather unfocused, there's just too much of everything, and everything feels samey, exchangeable and a bit formulaic after a while, despite all of it being 'handcrafted', and despite featuring some original ideas, a lot of it isn't all that interesting either. The game is often likened to a single player MMORPG, and that's exactly how it feels. I like a lot of its ingredients, but the sum of these parts ultimately leaves me kind of indifferent. It is fun, in a way, but also feels pretty pointless in the end.

but then reached first boss and it's nothing like that, had to do some stuff to lower her shield and do it perfectly or die in 2 hits

Can't speak for him but I say that 2019 me felt pretty much like 1997 me when giving Jedi Knight another go after 22 years.
A blast, to say the least. What a game. 15h well spent in 1997 and another 15h well spent in 2019.

I've been wanting to grab it, so I'm glad to hear a good review. Dark Forces II was the first Star Wars game that I played, and I enjoyed all of that series. I couldn't imagine EA being able to pull off something as good, so I was waiting for a discount. But I might go ahead and bite the bullet.

Having done a large swath of the side quests once, if you do too many you also cap out your level well before finishing the story. There is a main story quest, so if you've had your fill of side quests, just focus on that whenever you're ready to dabble in it again.

Probably a great game, but it's primarily a block sliding puzzle game. I hate sliding block puzzles, especially when they are to a time limit, and you have a giant evil arse chasing you...no not a person that's being an arse- I mean an actual giant arse. It's terrifying.
