Leroux: What I haven't found so far though is a sniper rifle ...

morolf: You should get one quite early in the level (tenloss disruptor rifle), already in the bar iirc, sniper function is the secondary fire enabled through right-click iirc.
And yes, that level with the snipers isn't that fun, but it gets better later.
Yeah, I just found that out myself. Feeling kind of dumb now, but in my defense, the name didn't suggest that to me, and several of the other guns fire an extra amount of bullets when you press RMB, which is probably why I didn't test RMB on all of them before, in order to save ammo. Should have saved the game to experiment a little and then reloaded though, to find out how each weapons works. Anyway, I think I've made it through the worst now, so maybe I'll continue playing. Thanks for everyone's help and encouragement!

Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

Well, well, well... I was a fan of this game in my memory of it, liked it really much back in the ps2 era... I replayed the remaster (on GOG when...?) some days ago and the punishing QTE made me quit, i was quite far into the game but it was too much....

I use a 8Bitdo wireless controller and while good, the thumb sticks are not the best, so many input errors in those harsh die & retry QTE would lead to painful failure and buggy load screens.

I coiuld just not stomach anymore of those, if i did not know the game before i may have persevered but the ending is a mess anyway... A game i really liked fell down to a very interesting adventure setting ruined by really bad "action" sequences.
Uru - Ages Beyond Myst.

It deserves a long rant, but it's just not a good entry into the myst series and not worth wasting my time when I just don't find the game fun. I've happily re-played myst, riven and exile. But uru just doesn't do it for me.
*Gulp* Hopefully this is for good...

World of Warcraft.

theslitherydeee: The funnest part of the Jedi Knight games is cutting up people with lightsabers with the realistic saber turned on, do whatever it takes in game to get back to doing that.
The funnest part of Jedi Outcast for me was rushing my character to Force Grip level 3 and tossing mooks around. Every time I played through with a different build I missed slamming people into walls and throwing them to their deaths. I'd play a game where that was my only weapon.

Or pushing people off cliffs into the void. If they made the next kotor with Jedi Outcast mechanics that would be just perfect.
SimCity 4 Deluxe (I played the Steam version)

This is a city management sandbox game, your goal is to plan your city however you choose and let it grow. I wasn't sure whether to put this game in "Completed" or "Quit" because the game itself doesn't have an ending, you just play it as long as you want. I decided to put in "Quit" for the reasons below.

I played a lot of SimCity 2000 back in the day (and again a few years ago), so I'll be comparing SC4 to SC2000.

SC4 has much nicer graphics, and it's a lot more fluid, easy, and quick to build zones, much more open and flexible. However, for me this ease of creating a city made me feel more detached, because I wasn't as involved in planning and placing all the roads.

SC4 cities feel really small to me. Whereas in SC2000 you build a huge megatropolis on a single map, in SC4 the map is broken down into many smaller regions, so the game's intent is that you can build an agricultural region, a separate residential region, a separate commercial region, etc. (including multiple regions of the same type) and because they are all adjacent you connect them together in order to share resources and demand. However, to me this felt a lot less immersive again because you cannot manage your entire city as a whole, only as individual segments.

SC4 unlocks improved versions of hospitals, power stations, etc. by getting in-game achievements (eg reaching a certain population level may unlock a new power plant, or reaching a certain rating for healthcare for example may unlock a bigger hospital). SC2000 on the other hand unlocks items based on the current in-game year, so (for example) you would not gain access to a nuclear power plant until the year 1980. Perhaps needless to say at this point, I much prefer the "realism" of certain technologies only becoming available at certain dates, regardless of how your particular city is prospering.

And finally, SC4 does not have arcologies!!!

Overall it's an OK game, it's fun to play for a while, but on the whole I'd rather be playing SC2000 to scratch that particular itch.

Stars in Shadow. It was definitely engaging when as the Orthin I had to fight off the Haduir, Yoral and Gremak raiders almost simultaneously, but now that I'm outproducing all of them while making them look like cavemen technologically, it's become too mechanical of a game. Just pump out ships and keep up production. The victory types come down to either conquer everyone or be super-nice to everyone. I'd soldier on if there was a science-type victory. Now I'd like more of a grand strategy game where you do more than just war and production. Or a 4X game like Civ 5, which for some reason we still don't have here.
I tried asssassins creed 4 black flag for the first time after i got it for free through uplay some years ago. I just couldn't finish it. I tried so hard but by mid game i just uninstalled it together with uplay remembering why i stopped playing ubisoft games years ago.
Xenonauts

But only temporarily. It requires a far greater time commitment than I can afford right now. Also, since I want to finish with iron man mode, it takes a lot longer to do all the missions, only adding to an already lengthy game.
I've tried non-ironman, but it always devolves into me loading saves when my favorite soldiers get killed, which inevitable degrades the experience for me. I'll probably play without using the actual ironman mode setting, just so that I can have backup saves. The game does appear to be a bit buggy from time to time, and I have read stories of the game corrupting people's saves.
Knock on wood, still WoW free.

Have you tried GameSave Manager? I didn't, but looks quite useful and sometimes I'm thinking that I should give it a try.

Interesting, but no I haven't. Luckily I can't recall ever having problems with corrupted save files. But regardless, I playing ironman without actually using the ironman mode should suffice. If I can resist the temptation to load a save after a bad mission that is :)
I tossed my Zelda: BotW cartridge across the room.

..I should probably resell it before I kill its value.
Locomotion, on a indefinite hiatus. The game has good potential in the source port, but much as OpenTTD was in the early days, Locomotion is more still and somewhat worse.
