I was wondering what games people should play if they really like COD.

Preferably something that only costs a few squid. Also, I'm a bit squeamish, so I'd prefer games where you don't have to gill anyone.
Idk if COD fans would like them but Ghost Recon is old & gold.

The Delta Force series has some passable titles as well. I actually kind of enjoyed Delta Force 1 despite how plain, simplistic, and old it is. Land Warrior is probably the hilight of the series. Unfortunately Delta Force 2 kept crashing on me so I could never enjoy it properly; but it seems to have decent ratings. I don't remember anything about Task Force Dagger -- I wonder whether I even played it. Don't touch Delta Force Xtreme (it's embarrassing that they dare charge 20 eur for it). Then there's Black Hawk Down which you may or may like. It is probably the most modern and "cod-like" but I'm not sure that's all good...
Last I checked, "fan of Call of Duty" and "preferring games where you don't gill anyone" is only not a contradiction if it's also not a typo.
And here's me thinking that this thread was about the delicious fishy supper...

This quote from the OP almost confirmed it, but not quite...

"so I'd prefer games where you don't have to gill anyone."
I can assure you, any references made to marine animals were not on porpoise
So you're just lying then. Or maybe there was always something about CoD that you felt was unsatisfying and now realize something else will better scratch that itch.

The only non-lethal modern military games around here are Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell. Literally just the first of each title.
Painkiller: Black Edition. There aren't any truly human enemies in it, even though some of them are human-like. But really they are all demons in Purgatory, so you don't have to feel bad about dispatching any of them.

Good catch. It was a whopper.

I prefer haddock.

Here is a game that should have Haddock in it:

...and I doubt you do any killing in it.

Medal of Honor comes to mind.
The entire thread smells fishy. It had docked in the forums and everybody just carps on about some cod. It's bassicaly pointless and reely boring, yet it's perched on tope of the forums. Now that I've dropped so many zingels and fulfilled the sole purpoise of this thread, I'de betta leave this plaice and go enjoy a game of snook'. I'm not writing hamlet here, mora like koiplete gibberfish and it's already crappie enough, so bangus the drums, buri the thread and don't discus it further.
I tried that, but I didn't get hooked. The controls were a bit floaty.

That's exactly what I'm angling for! Wishlisted for now.
How about Soldier of Fortune? That's a shooter with lots of nice run and gun gameplay and military themes. If you are squeamish, maybe stay away from SoF2. Lots of gore and brain matter in that one. Haven't played 3, but apparently it's pretty bad.

Edit: Okay, I see what this is about now.. hah. Good one.

I feel literally any game would be an upwards swing from that barrel scraping swill.
