I was glad when Deus Ex - Mankind Divided arrived so much, that it became instabought… ...now I must say, that it is an average game. First of all it caused me a lot of troubles due to bugged DirectX 12 implementation, secondly Czech language can seem to somebody who does not speak Czech exotic, but for me it was terrible translation which many times did not make even sense and “Give me a challenge” difficulty is extremely easy…

Desperate measures on Give me Deus Ex is short and easy mission to make game longer.

System Rift (Give me Deus Ex) brings new elements to the game, first time interesting story and mission was tense, deep and really enjoyable – this is how the whole game should look like.

A Criminal past had good idea, but as most of remaining parts story was not interesting for me, so System Rift is clear winner, because at first story seem linear here, later it changed, but more ways I discovered the easier it was (Give me Deus Ex).

I wonder if there is a limit for test in a post, because anything I add to my older post just does like Ethan Carter. It vanishes. Continuing from https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_finished_in_2020/post63
So,
continuining June:
24 The Stanley Parable, my review got cancelled but let's say I was very entertained, it's an interactive experience and early walking sim that tries to push the artistic boundaries of videogames, expecially for its release date. I'm late to the party, I tried a demo years ago but would only purchase on GOG, so I missed it.
25 Today is walking sim day and after the discrete the Stanley Parable office facility building I have explored the manor of Gone Home. The idea is a little bit like in What Remains of Edith Finch, you explore an empty house to learn about the life and stories of the family who lived there. You find items that will make the first person character start to narrate some memory. Most of them are about a boring teenager love story for a rock singer that later joins the army. It's very hard to care about it. There are hints at other possible plots that could have been more interesting but sadly they are left unexpanded. Like the protagonist father, who appears to be an unsuccessful writer and his relationship with his own father. We would like to know more of the previous house dwellers, and more about the house itself. It feels like the story is unfinished and just a cliché pretext for the romantic plot. It could probably be more enjoyable for people who like romantic fiction.
The interface and graphic engine are clumsy, even the way sound behave is unnatural. The physics are just wrong. Most interaction with any item consists in grabbing it and throwing it away, like you are a 2 years old or something. If you throw glasses or dishes on the floor they will float down like paper rather than crashing to the floor and go to pieces. To discover how to crouch I had to google it. Mapping system is inconvenient, forcing you to switch between first person view to map screen without indication of your position. I remember that Doom could do better in 1993. Mouse eye movements are jerky. If you choose to have captions in a different language over documents, they are cumbersome and cover the original picture in an annoying way. Subtitles are acceptable, but the only option is on/off. It doesn't seem well optimized, but at least it never crashed. This title feels cheap and amateurish overall.
My review is based on the freebie that I got from another store.

26 VirtuaVerse in Italian
July:
27 The Eternal Castle, great for the price. I would buy it again on GOG.
August:

After several hundred hours in Animal Crossing since it's release, I finally came back to PC gaming. Finished 3 games this month so far: Primordia, Cat Quest, Life is Strange. After I finish Before the Storm, I will continue working through my backlog and recent pick ups.

I liked Primordia, but I feel like I don't really understand Primordia... It was a good point and click though. I adored and very much enjoyed Cat Quest, will pick up the 2nd game at a later date. It was my first time playing Life is Strange and it did not disappoint. Was quite emotional. I was in tears more than once. I understand why people love it and I'm looking forward to starting the prequel. I'm also slowly playing My Time at Portia, though I don't know if that game can be "finished"?
Last of Us Part 2; I chose my platform well with YouTube. Joel did nothing wrong.
Dragon Quest 11 and Final Fantasy 7R. Loved them both.
missed messages. - a short game, i got 3 of the 4 endings in about 40 minutes. Story game, topic is suicide. Art is beautiful, it's a freebie so worth a shot.

Thirty Flights of Loving - another shortie - neat vignettes make up the game, not a lot of interactive gameplay pieces, but what's there is solid and tells a story/

Deadly Tower of Monsters - made to look like a B-movie, I'm disappointed the aesthetic just didn't click with me.

I loved DQXI, played it last year! It was also my first Dragon Quest besides 9 which I had played a bit of, picked up the other DS ones, will play when I finish Miitopia (which is on hold because my 3DS needs a new battery and I'd like to actually play handheld again not attached to charger).

Be careful doing that. Unlike laptops and such, it is not recommended to play with your 3DS while charging it. You will kill your battery in doing so... imagine that.
Whispering Willows (2014) (Linux)

This game would be a nice point & click adventure. I'm not sure why creators decided to make it in a different mechanics. The result is slow and a bit frustrating gameplay, which becomes really irritating when you need to revisit a few distant locations. Also the atmosphere (great and thrilling at first) becomes dull, when you realize how the game works and what can and what cannot hurt you. Not sure if it was worth 3 hours of my life.

List of all games completed in 2020.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (XB1X)

Whilst it's not as good as Human Revolution overall, I still enjoyed. It has the same gameplay that involved me hacking every single computer and storage locker just because I had to know what was there. The game had a very investigative feel to it for the most part, with occasional bursts of action. I liked that and liked how it doesn't railroad you too much with scripting- like you can just simply shoot people usually without the game forcing you to talk to them first with a cutscene, even if you need vital story information from them the game will always provide an alternative method. That's the sort of freedom I value in games.

One complaint that a lot of people had from HR was that the endings came down to a choice right at the end. Well this time they seemed to have addressed that to some extent, as you have to make a few choices throughout the game that seem to branch towards different outcomes. It's hard to say how much difference the choices make without playing the game again. But the final choice in particular would seem to lead to a quite different ending.

Most of all though, I still believe Adam Jensen is my favourite male character lead role in gaming. Maybe only Agent 47 being a challenger. He is voiced so well and has that no nonsense "do what needs to be done without the whiney voice" style that I value. If there's one thing I can't stand is the new age sensitive girly man hero. So Clint Eastwood good, Tom Hanks bad is what I'm getting at.

The reason that Mankind Divided fall just a bit behind HR though is that the conspiracy story just didn't grab me as much this time. So I never quite felt as invested. That was balanced somewhat by a few pretty decent little side missions.

Too bad it looks as though the series is over.
Sega Megadrive/Genesis Mini: Wonderboy 5 and Shining Force.
Evoland 2, a Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder

I played the original Evoland back when it came out, but I'd been putting off the sequel for a while. Anyway Evoland 2 is a RPG (sort of) set in a world of different time periods, represented in 8 bit, 16bit, 3D graphics and a Gameboy inspired graphics. It's also notable for probably having the most genre's of any game on GOG (Correct me if I'm wrong) being tagged as: RPG, Adventure, Strategy, Turn-based strategy, Indie, Platform, Hack & Slash, Beat 'em up, Fighting and Music. The store page also says its a horror game for some reason, which is complete nonsense. So how does a game have so many genre's, because it was basically created as a love letter to other games containing segments inspired by: Legend of Zelda, Chronotrigger, Street Fighter, Fire Emblem, Guitar Hero, Bomberman, Professor Layton, Streets of Rage, Puzzle Quest and many others.

While it sounds pretty good, you've got to remember that there are at least 10 different gameplay systems, which means most of them are prone to bugs or unbalanced. The game is surprisingly difficult, the shoot 'em up sections are especially punishing and act more like bullet hell games. The pacing is often slow as well, a lot of sections last too long or gameplay mechanics are unbalanced resulting in you just spamming the same strategy over and over. While it is a decent game, I just couldn't really get into it.
Beyond Zork
A very confusing game. Walkthrough almost required at certain points in the game because it's very easy to get trapped in a dead-end situation and not know it until hours later.
Lost Horizon, June 24 (GOG)-I pretty fun adventure game that really exudes that Indiana Jones pulpy feel. The globe-trotting was fun and the mysteries of the plot were good until the last act. The puzzles were on the easy side and some of the solutions made me question chemistry, biology, and the basic laws of physics but overall an enjoyable experience.

Nahende Finsternis (NWN Diamond 1.68)

German only, unfortunately, so probably of even less interest to others as usual. XD
Pretty good one though (Review in German)
