Finished Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure on Hard Mode (thanks to a file posted in the Gurumin sub-forum that fixes the endgame crash bug).

Now, time for Happy mode (which is more difficult than Hard).
1. The Sexy Brutale - Quirky and interesting game where you experience groundhogs day, and learn about what's going on from previous attempts. I still don't understand why it's named what it is, but it's enjoyable.

2. Regency Solitaire - Nonsense story, but an interesting take on Solitaire, with some pretty cool gameplay additions.

3. Shadowhand -It's very similar to Regency Solitaire, but by the introduction of duels, the RNG nature is made way worse as you can dominate or be dominated based on the randomness. In making this more "game-y", it's a lot less fun..

4. Downfall Redux - Played the original a long time ago, and bits and pieces of this remake feel familiar. The The Cat Lady tie in is new, as most have noted. But I don't know. Although it has grotesque imagery and whatnot, I never really connected to this game either time.

5. Noctropolis - Point and click adventure with cheesy FMV. I meant the latter as a compliment, but somehow I never really connected with it. It's nice that it comes with a complete walkthrough, though. Some of the actions you need to do are cryptic, but most of it is typical P&C.

6. Shadowrun Returns - RPG with okayish combat and a decent story. Overall feels kinda derivative, and ends right when you think things are going to start cooking. I hear Dragonfall is better so I'm looking forward to that.

7. Bucket Detective - Yeah, it's mostly WTF. But you know that going in. There's only a limited amount of interactivity, so I hesitate to call it more than a walking simulator. But it does have multiple endings and a director commentary.

8. Cayne - After BD, I wanted to continue the horror. So why not with this freebie? Pretty cool little game, and I really like the UI compared to most point and clicks. Which led me to...

9. Stasis - Cayne is definitely more detailed, but you can see where everything stems from. Lots more questions and twists than Cayne in the conclusion.

10. Tormentum - Dark Sorrow - Nifty point and click. Pretty approachable puzzles, with some automatic hint notetaking and glowing objects so you don't have to pixel hunt. Of course, the best thing is the gorgeous horror-inspired art. I can't wait to see what these guys do next.

11. Subsurface Circular - "Text adventure". That's probably all you need to know about it. It's kinda like a visual novel, in that the gameplay is mostly choosing dialog responses and dialog partners. But visually and through it's narrative, it's sci-fi.

12. Yesterday - Darker than the other Pendulo adventures, and the UI could use some work. But it definitely feels bigger budget and comes off better than the Runaway games. I just discovered they made a sequel (prequel?) so I guess I'll revisit this world soon-ish.

13. Mark of the Ninja - An okay'ish action/stealth game. I don't think it's as brilliant as everyone else makes it out to be. It's... dare I say it... boring?

14. Leviathan: The Last Day of the Decade - Very interesting point-n-click adventure with visual novel aspects. But the ending depends on your choices, so not sure if it's my fault or the game's but felt like the ending was very abrupt. Still, a lot of these multi-ending games come alive once you get all the endings so we'll see.

15. Monster Slayers - From what I'm told, this game may have influenced Slay the Spire, which has been getting rave reviews, so I decided to try this one out. It's a deck-based rogue-like, and it works really well. Pick a class, which has its own bonuses and decides the kinds of decks you can have. Then go around 3 randomized maps to try to complete the game. The "deck" you have determines your actions during combat, so the choice between adding a new card vs. removing a bad card at times is an interesting one. What's fun is that because each class plays very differently (literally different cards are available), I feel there's tons of replay value in mastering each one. There are 10 classes in all (+ 2 additional via DLC)

16. Nightmares from the Deep - Okay, I played my first hidden object game and ... I didn't hate it? Probably helps that this title is only HOG 25% of the time. The other 75% is standard point & click adventure where you find objects, figure out where to use them and solve puzzles along the way. For the < $2 asking price, well worth the time invested and I'm about to pick up the remaining two from this series.

Dungeon Siege: Legends of Aranna

This was the expansion, I finished the base campaign earlier. It was more of the same, both in good and bad. Maybe there were some new spells and then there were these "sets" that you could collect, ie. 3-5 pieces of armor/weapons/rings/whatever that together would give you extra perks. It was a nice touch as it added a bit of "I have to find that one more piece!" to the game, just to make a set complete.

Good: a very slick game, well designed (user interface, gameplay etc.)

Bad: Repetitive (90% of the time you are wandering in some generic forest or dungeon), and frankly there was too much ho-hum loot you'd just convert to money or potions anyway. Many times I felt I was doing much more time arranging and selling (or transmuting) the loot than e.g. exploring or fighting.

Overall I liked the game (both the base game and the expansion).

Crazy Machines (Linux/Wine)

The true successor to "The Incredible Machine".
I play it regularly and the Gold version has hundreds of levels as well as an editor for custom puzzles.
What I particularly like is, that is also has a "Junior's mode" with over 50 easy puzzles particularly aimed at small children which makes this a game I'd totally play with those.
The only minor gripe I have about it is, that the resolution options only go up to 1024x768 but that's really a minor thing and got fixed in the second game.
Onwards to the first expansion!
