Sword of the Stars: The Pit + both DLCs

At the beginning the game seemed to be awesome. Unfortunately, the more I played the more disappointed I was. The amount of items and crafting recipes is epic but alas, you have extremely limited access to this epicness since crafting locations are rare and you can use them just a few times. As a result you cannot really experiment trying to invent a new recipe. You have to relay on those that you've already encrypted. Alternatively you can just find them in any game guide but that's not what I would like to do (and I didn't).

Furthermore I have a feeling that the game cannot be beaten immediately after reinstalling even if you are an expert - you just have to store XP and crucial items for your next hero. Perhaps it's just me being bad at it, but I've read that a lot of people have the same problem. My usual procedure was to waste ~5 heroes before an attempt to win the game - I just reached level 10 with them, stored everything valuable and a lot of XP and then let them die. After that I started a new game with a hero who had an actual chance to win the game. And only if I had a decent armor and at least two cool guns with reasonable amount of ammo. Playing a game knowing that it's just to hoard a lot of goodies is not fun at all. Perhaps it was my fault that I chose to play on hard but I still think that reinstalling a game shouldn't decrease your chances to win. And it totally does in SotS: The Pit! How weird is that?!

And my biggest complain yet... the combat, which is incidentally the most time consuming part of the game. It's just tedious. Tactics? Next to none. Just grinding and grinding. Sure, you have to choose your weapon adequately but after some time you will just do it without thinking about it.

On the plus side I have to mention that I love learning-by-doing concept. Even if you fail your skill check you may become better in it just because you practice.

Minor annoyance: how come a tough hero needs a bed to sleep? Can't he/she just sleep on the floor? Does he/she need a silk linen too? It would be better if they changed the bed to some secured chamber. In such a case not being able to sleep on the floor would be understandable (wandering enemies) but right now it's just ridiculous.

I've beaten the game with Scout, Psion and Wariorr and think I'm done with it for a long time (if not ever). I can still recommend it, it's very entertaining game. I still feel a bit disappointed because it could have been an epic game. At the beginning I really though it was. Shame...

- Pixeljunk Shooter! I love twin-stick shooters like that.
- Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal. I kept playing until I got all the Omega weapons. (2 1/2 playthroughs)
- LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes. Great game, but why reserve unlocking a character until you finish the whole game? I'd have liked to have actually played the game with that character.
- Thomas Was Alone. LOVED it! I almost played it through in one sitting, and I don't think I have *ever* done that.
- Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time. A nice resurrection of what was good in Sly 2. Not too fond of the time-limited treasure heists, and there are so... many... of them.
- Anomaly 2. Eh, it was OK. I liked the first one better.
- The Stanley Parable. Not what I expected. I wasn't all that crazy about this one.
- Creeper World (story). AMAZING game. Why had I not played this before? I got the trilogy and am moving on to the next.
- Creeper World 2. Yup.
- Creeper World 3 - Arc Eternal. OH YEAH!!!

Gunman Clive is first game I've finished in 2014, It's a short game (takes about 45 min), so I ended up finishing it 3 times. I beat the game twice on normal difficulty with Clive and then in duck mode. I also beat the game on hard difficulty with Ms. Johnsson.

I also finished the To The Moon Holiday Minisode.

I usually get bored with Tower Defense games really fast. I've finished this one so it's definitely above the average. I really like managing two different resources, it introduce some depth to the gameplay. Some missions are really challenging so it's important to choose towers and their locations wisely.

But remember! If you want to play a Tower Defense Game be sure to play Defender's Quest first, it's so much better in every single aspect!

I've finished my first game this year. Asteria

This is what you get if you combine Terraria and Metroid.
Asteria has a random overworld with eight not random dungeons. Differently from Terraria is, that combat and mining is ranged and much quicker. (I've only played Terraria for ~10h, so I might be wrong here.)
There a a few things I didn't like though. The Darksteel and Adamantium items need way too much grinding. Getting those "Gunn [sic] Diodes" took forever and mining thousands of iron ore got a bit boring after some time too. My main issue is that the game has two parts which are only beatable with trial and error. I hate that. A game should be beatable with logic and/or reflexes.
But in the end I enjoyed this 22,5h journey and I will play the game again should there be a big content update (free or paid) in the future.
