Pheace: That's a lot of GOG keys incoming to the trading scene :)

PaterAlf: If I understand them correctly you have to decide if you want the DRM-free copy on GOG or the Steam key.
That would make sense, GOG has shown unwillingness for GOG keys to be bundled with Steam keys in the past so I'm not surprised it's either or. Still, with blind buying people who are in it for the GOG keys are still likely to get games they're not necessarily interested in, though I guess some might go for a Steam key to trade then rather than GOG.

Point_Man: The first game is supposedly WayForward's Lit. Hopefully it's some variation of the Wii version, and not the shitty IOS version.
Looks like it's based on the IOS version... Wow...

They say it's "built from the ground up for PC with new character but based on the 2D illustrative style of the iOS version" whatever the hell that means. By "built up from the ground for PC" how much work are they implying was done on this mobile game to make it seem less like a mobile game? Maybe it'll turn out to be okay. Who knows.

Opening up your PC subscription service with a mobile game leaves me very nervous though. Though they claim Lit is the newest game they're releasing in terms of the original date the game was released.

Hopefully February's NES horror game that's never been on PC before is better.

Edit: An interesting tidbit from an interview. I think they're talking about the NES horror game here:

"classic from a gaming catalog that we actually pulled out of bankruptcy courts for the defunct publisher who once published them. That will give us a large catalog of games"

Wonder which publisher's catalog they've obtained. They also said they are working with Japanese publishers to bring some of their games to PC as well.

Well, Capcom isn't bankrupt, so that leave's the already mentioned Sweet Home.

Lucasgames technically isn't dead, just frozen in a mouse shaped vault, so that takes them out...along with Maniac Mansion.

Konami, while they suck and have left the business, still exist so they're not the ones. That leaves Castlevania and more out.

Atlus, while on hard times, still exist to this very day, so we're not getting the blessing of Megami Tensei.

Namco/Bandai still exists, so that leaves out the few NES horror games they did. Including a JVC developed Splatterhouse game.

FCI surprisingly enough still exists. That puts Dr. Chaos off the table.

Data East died eons ago, so there goes Werewolf: The Last Warrior.

Zombie Nation sucked and both companies associated with it appear to have vanished.

Kemco suprisingly still exists, while Icom was dissolved eons ago. Uninvited is probably off the table.

So...that takes all the good games out of the picture.

Leaving us with LJN, THQ, Electro Brain, and Psygnosis.

The problem with any of those four choices is the games remaining all suck. Of the potential, I only think one doesn't have a character licence attached to it, and the other is borrowed from the public domain.

Of course in my overreading of this list, I may have misread/not collated enough data to come to a conclusion.

But to put things in a very blunt light, aside from Sweet Home, the NES simply didn't do horror, not only due to system limitations, but also due to NOA putting a very firm foot on throat in terms of content restrictions.

Dang, I wish I saw this thread earlier. I would have liked to have gotten the two bonus games. Will they be available to purchase for those of us who weren't early adopters?

Ya i think that's the plan. These are all supposed to be games that have never been on Steam/GOG and sometimes never even been on PC. As i understand it, the games will be put up for sale on Steam/GOG and the subscribers would get a GOG or Steam key for each game.
Just by reading this thread I went from "meh, scam" to "They have a deal with gog?". But unless gog confirm anything I'll stand on my "scam" mindset. On the other hand they claimed that a few days ago and gog has not denied it which does makes it interesting again...

But subbing for a monthly game code...?

Meh. It was $20 for 15 games/months. If they can actually deliver them all, $20 for 15 GOG games isn't bad. Even if only a handful are good.
Interesting but I will wait for more news about it.
The subscription part of the service has been cancelled. All subscribers will be getting refunded (I got my refund already) and "Those who subscribed prior to cancellation will still receive the two promised games for Jan / Feb once they're on Steam". Not sure if that includes GOG keys or not.
