Interesting concept but that was one awkward trailer.. *shivers*

I don't like the idea of a blind purchase but I'll keep an eye on it.
All for older games, but no to a subscription...be interesting to see what they do end up selling.
Subscription? Yeah, that would be a big fat "no" then.
I can't help but be reminded of that company that put up some illegally emulated PSX titles on Steam.

Imagine how cool it would be, if that would be working legally (replace Steam with GOG if you want...). ;-(

Nope
Sounds like a worse deal even than Humble Monthly. If those are great classics that many people would be interested in, they'd be stupid just to sell them on their own platform and only to customers who are ready to buy the pig in the poke. So I assume these games will be available for purchase sooner or later even after they're revealed or they are just gimmicky games that you'll forget about soon after. The only thing that sounds halfway decent about it is the charity aspect.

I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, and I'm willing to spend $5 just to try it out, but for anything more than that they would have to show some actual products.
9/10 times "mystery" sales are a colossal scam. I really don't see this panning out well.
If they can't get the rights they make a spiritual successor? That's hilarious. Imagine GOG doing that. "Sorry about not releasing No one lives forever, but we made the next best thing: Most People Function Temporarily! Come back next week for Teddi Tish Too

Darvond: Riiiiiight. And Nintendo is just simply known for having made so many versions of their games for other platforms.
Again, it's not about Nintendo. Some other companies released their stuff on Nintendo's consoles, as well as other consoles. Nintendo might control the Nintendo versions, but they don't get a say when it comes to third-party devs publishing their games on non-Nintendo consoles. And that's what these guys are hoping to get (or rather, that's what they already have, since MSX is explicitly named as the one they've pulled off most of their stuff for now). I don't think this is that difficult to understand, if you'd stop and comprehend instead of going off on pointless condescending rants.

idk man, that might be fucking amusing... maybe frustrating but hilarious nonetheless
Launch has been delayed, but those who have preordered will get bonus games, and in better news, apparently there will be an option to get your games on GOG:

"Despite our best efforts, we were unable to meet our development, submission, and release schedule we had planned. Which would have had our first game release to subscribers today (January 6th, 2017).

Rather than push an unfinished slate of games out the door to meet this deadline, we have decided to delay the launch of the service to ensure that we can meet the expectations of our fans and subscribers.

This delay could be as short as three weeks (by the end of Jan) or as long as a month (early March), we are working to get it shippable as soon as possible.

As founder of the GAMEPUMP service, I personally take full responsibility for this delay and am sorry for this failing. I understand that this can be frustrating and disappointing and I do not want any of our subscribers to feel cheated. Therefore, I would like to offer a full refund to any user who may feel that way.

If you would like to cancel your preorder and receive a full refund via the payment method you subscribed with, please fill out the form located at the bottom of this announcement and we will get it processed as fast as possible.

Regardless if you decide to leave the service, or if you decide to stick it out with us, we have a few tokens of our appreciation we'd like to offer as an official apology.

All subscribers who purchased a subscription on or before January 6th, 2017 (our intended launch day) will still be receiving a game in Jan and in Feb, however these games will be BONUS games, and not part of your GAMEPUMP subscription.

This just means they're great games, but not reflective of the types of games you'll be receiving as part of your subscription and do not count as part of your 12 games (with an annual subscription).

The first bonus game for Jan will be the award winning puzzle game LIT from Wayforward. We've rebuilt the game from the ground up for PC and added a new playable character. This game is our gift to you and does not count against your 12 game total.

The second bonus game which will be sent out in Feb is an NES horror game that has been brought to PC for the first time.

Those games are going through the certification process on modern PC marketplaces now and as soon as we can process keys for them, we will be emailing them out to all active subscribers. We estimate this will be within the next 2 weeks.

Lastly, we're excited to announce that we've been working with GOG.com to ensure that every game that appears in the GAMEPUMP service will be available first on GOG.com as a DRM-FREE version of the game. Subscribers will now have the option to redeem their DRM-FREE GOG.com version of the game by default and will be given the option to forfeit their DRM-FREE copy in exchange for a STEAM key (once available on STEAM).

DRM-FREE support was a huge request from our audience and we're happy to be able to honor that request!"

Wow, that's great news. I wonder if it really means every game, or if there will still be cases where no DRM-free version can be provided. I saw on Twitter they mentioned that Valve is making them go through Greenlight, so that's why GOG will be able to release the games first, until that restriction passes and they can release them simultaneously.

Pre-ordering now.

Done. So if you pre-order today, you're basically getting 15 GOG games that have never been released on GOG or Steam before for $20. It's a gamble but hopefully it results in some gems.

The first game is supposedly WayForward's Lit. Hopefully it's some variation of the Wii version, and not the shitty IOS version.
