I've noticed a number of reviews going like: ".... I'll upgrade the rating once devs to this, or that, or finish the game ..." . But, I just tried changing my review on a game and I see no possibility to do that.

Is there really a way to modify the review once it's commited?

Nope. Well, actually, there is one way which is contacting a forum moderator/support but I doubt most people are going to do that.

Welcome to GOG's text products. Where Emoji are xml entries that'll eat anything that attempts to reply to them, and reviews are carved in stone.
high rated
Game reviews are edible, but many will give you indigestion.
Yup, imagine that. And it is 2021. And they brag with Gog Galaxy 2.0 and stuff.

As I've recently learned, not even GOG support can do that (I guess their SQL-fu is not on black belt levels). But they can delete a review and you can then repost it...

So not going to bother with support to withdraw a review (and I think they won't mind).
Back from holiday mr altk? :p

One benefit of not being able to edit reviews is that they describe the game at various stages of any changes.
What reviews? Oh, you can't even find them unless you remember every single game you reviewed. That's another funny feature of GOG, training your memory.

Very nice, it is like reading a newspaper and trying to find your quotes and reviews on them. As well as that, it is hard to edit your review/ words on an article that has already been published.

(On second thought, my comparison probably has no correlation to the subject!!!)

Contact us, we will figure something out :)
Some game reviews are indeed not edible ... hard to swallow.

So it pays to realize, that what you say in a review can be set in concrete for all time ... and not editable or edible. ;)

This could be a good thing or a bad thing.

I think being able to edit it, but keeping previous versions on hand would be better.

Though i also put my own reviews on my GOGMix and those are all gone to the void... So expecting improvements is iffy at best.

Yep.

Yes, you should be able to edit within 24 hours, and you should be able to do a later review or two and they should be linked ... maybe years or months later.

I feel there's enough precedent of a game unscrewing itself or screwing itself over to earn at the very least, an "Addendum" feature.

Starbound may have had several patches from release but it would be noteworthy to say that none of them actually fix the core problems the game has. Since Roller Coaster Tycoon & Locomotion have released, source ports have come along to give them some much needed QoL features.

And of course No Man's Sky did a lovely turnaround.

Of course this would all imply having the ability to track one's reviews.
