Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs memory, etc. Still a decent machine anyway.
Liked Morrowind - interesting world with animals, peoples, locations., Oblivion - not as much. Most of the scenery could have been in Montanna. Skyrim. Liked the fast travel, didn't care for all of the darkness (old eyes). And to be honest, I used TIM (immortality) after getting killed by someone/something behind me one too many times. But playing the game with the 'cheat codes' was fun. Recently bought Dragon Dogma: Arisen - too dark and the start up just had my team running around fighting in the dark. Too fast and I did mention old eyes. Put it in the bit bucket. Bought Witcher 3. Is there a first person view? Haven't been able to get into it because of the third person view. Just left the starter room and quit.
So any recommendations that might fit an old guys picky interests? Thanks!!

If you don't mind Adventure+Puzzle, then Obduction is my reccomendation.

So, to sum up, you want:

1st-person perspective, and not 3rd person
Preferably with magic, or a similar sort of additional mechanic
Good graphics but not necessarily state-of-the-art
An art style that isn't too much like Earth

That sound right?

Borderlands 2 is a shooter, but it can be fast if you like fast, or slow if you prefer slow. It's solo or small-group multiplayer. The art style is very distinctive so you can tell from a glance whether you might like it or not. There's "magic" but not a lot, and the setting is very humorous.

Gothic 2 &3. These are hard games, so you might want to just start with cheats enabled, but they're very, very good. You'll want to adjust the gamma settings though, because parts of the game are quite dimly lit. Gothic 3 naturally has 1st person, but for Gothic 2 you would need to download a mod to enable it, IIRC.

Dues Ex: Human Revolution is an easy and obvious choice, but there are a lot of situations where the game goes into 3rd person, even though it's primarily 1st person.

Gothic 1 & 2 definitely. The third one isn't that bad as some says, not with the community patch.
You may skip Arcania, different studio and genre..

Don't forget, if you do use Steam at all, that the Steam Summer Sale should be starting up at the end of this week. So you can save some money if you're going to buy anything from Steam by just waiting a few days. GOG's summer sale, of course, just ended so anything you're buying from here is probably not going to be on sale again in the immediate future.

First person mod on nexus. Haven't tried but looks quite good.

edit: Looks like the mod doesn't work in combat mode. Your glass eye perhaps? Definitely not my wooden leg ; )

So a bright/colorful first person RPG with exploration/scenery focus. Tricky.

If you want to amble over to Steam, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic might hit the spot. Dishonored could be worth a try, as well.

Personally I'll always recommend Fallout 3. Whether you think a familiar but modified setting (post-apocalyptic) is still interesting is probably the deciding factor.

Bit of a perspective gamble, since it's only first person in parts, but I think in all other aspects Albion actually might be up your ally.

On the offchance you're having a Gamecube lying around, I'd add Metroid Prime on a gut feeling to the list.
