KingKannibal: I looked up each individual game. Then again, I might be the only soul trying to get these games to play in a LAN on Windows 10 which is why no information is available.
Those closest to a solution was general networking information for Sniper Elite.

Dumb question... you have turned on Network Discovery, ri\ght?

If you haven't, I strongly recommend switching over to ZeroTier. It doesn't limit you to 5 users on a free account and has lower ping by comparison. I use this when playing old games with people over the internet.

Yes, I have it enabled on the computers I'm trouble shooting this with.

I don't do LAN parties (What I'm concerned, it's just the old version of online multiplayer). When I play multiplayer, it's just with a couple of friends - not with more than 5 people.

I see, you'll probably appreciate the lower latency anyway.

For turn based RPGs and strategy games? I don't think so. ;-)
I wonder if it's protocol related.

DOS and local LANS often ran using something other than UDP and TCP/IP. IPX was used as i recall. Course this was also without a router (but using repeaters), even StarCraft had IPX as an option.

Could this mean Microsoft is pruning out old protocols?

I feared something like this might be the scenario. Tried tons of stuff like changing the metric to 1 or 20 on the network adapter which is a solution I found for games not showing up in the LAN browser while using ZeroTier. Took a break from getting Sniper Elite 1 to work under LAN and discovered one of my games previously NOT working in LAN suddenly work now such as Rogue Trooper.
I did had some trouble to get Win10 to recognise shared folders by other computers, running older Win versions on local network (I dont use groups, just right click and share a folder). I really can't remember what I did to fix it but it may have something to do with your problem. I will look it later.

Edit: just after posting I remembered some SMB components are not active by default on Win10. Did you check those disabled windows features?

Can you tell me which features specifically? I'll look at the Windows features in the meantime to see what's in there as it didn't occur to me.
Oh, something that just occured to me was trying to DMZ the host computer. My goal is to get LAN working without any software except the game's built-in listen server or dedicated server stuff so I'm not worried about security risks in this situation.

Well it just comes to mind immediately that most routers will know and understand TCP/IP, UDP, IP6 and use those for packets. But something else more foreign it would probably barf at and drop since it doesn't recognize it.

Unless there's a wrapper or something (and if implemented in say DosBox it would be seamless with DosBox games).

Networking has gone a long ways since when DOOM used IPX, Coax cables, and Local Lan for multiplayer gaming.

Just curious... how do you DMZ a PC on a local network if there's at least one other PC connected to internet?

Through the modem? It's how I got a few games to work a while ago via LAN a long time ago before UPnP was common and I had no idea how to port forward at the time.

DMZ is not about getting games to work, it's about isolating computers or networks from other networks.

I've read plenty articles about blocking internet access (outgoing), but few about completely isolating a PC on a network from the WAN side (incoming+outgoing). And Mac Address Filtering also blocks PCs from accessing the local network.

I know this is completely off topic here; but does anyone here know how to configure a router with DD-WRT to block all and only WAN traffic to and from a certain PC?
