G2A is a grey market key reseller and not authorized to sell GOG keys. Yogsloth is assuming that's where your friend bought the keys.

GOG finds out if the key was purchased with a stolen credit card once that card is reported stolen. This is usually the case when something like this happens. There were a fairly large number of Witcher 3 keys revoked that were purchased from G2A because of this issue.

Your account won't be banned, however the chances of recovering the game are almost 0. You can always try contacting support for clarification but i wouldn't get my hopes up. If they key originally was bought with a stolen credit card and then sold to your friend, GOG won't be able to help you as they have to reimburse the original credit card owners bank.

Actually, you can contact the support about this.

http://www.gog.com/support/contact/general_website_questions

-> problem type : game not visible on list / shelf

describe the problem.

attach a screenshot.

if the game code was bought on G2A; the support will probably tell you about why the game is no more on your account (if it's not a website issue)

He's not talking about what your friend used, but what the seller of the code used to buy said code.

Here's the circle of life of your game:

victim -> credit card stolen by thief -> thief or accomplice buy a gift key from GOG with stolen card -> key is sold to g2a -> g2a sells key to your friend -> key is gifted to you -> gog gets a report from bank about a stolen credit card purchase of said key -> key is thrown into an incenerator, funeral rites are performed

Person A owns a credit card.

Person B steals that credit card. Buys game on GOG for $23 as a gift code. Sells it on G2A for $7.

Person C uses his pre-paid Visa card to purchase said code from G2A. G2A makes their cut, thief makes his. Person C then gifts the game to his friend, Person D.

Person D uses the code, plays the game, and then when Person A realizes what's happened and reverses the charge, GOG revokes the game code. Then Person D comes on this forum to start a thread asking where his game went.
