One more question then: does Galaxy need to be "just installed" or "installed and running" for "offline installer" game to be "indexed"? Maybe if I do not start Galaxy together with start of whole system (I hope there is such option in Galaxy to turn if off?) then my games will not be "indexed" during their installation?

As far as I'm aware it picks them up when it is started, whether it's been running or not.
I have it set not to start on start up and only run if I'm specifically going to play, update or install a game but if I've installed a game with an offline installer it's always there when I open Galaxy.

I can do some tests with some games to check and make sure if you like, but that's my experience so far.


Edit: And I suppose it's possible newer versions of Galaxy don't auto detect your games, or that I had an older version from the Beta installed or backed up which had already indexed some of them. I can't really remember now, only that I had intended to do what you want and not add my games to the client, but they ended up added anyway.

I would be very grateful if you could do that - I like being prepared for what's coming. ;)

Hmm.. so if:

a) Galaxy is not auto-indexing any games after its install
b) games are auto-indexed after Galaxy is already installed

then it seems that it's "fault" of offline installers as these installers detect Galaxy (not that Galaxy detects them) and they probably add themselves to "the list" indeed.

I've just installed Galaxy - no games indexed for now.

I have some questions about Settings > Features > Achievements and Game time tracking.

For any game from GOG but not "indexed" in Galaxy: if Galaxy is running in the background will Achievements and Game time tracking be still registered on my account profile?

Is it possible to reset Achievements (to "none") and/or Game time (to "0h")?

For every game I play that has GoG Galaxy features. If I do not start up the game through GoG Galaxy I don't get any time tracking, so if I played 10 hours without GoG Galaxy and then 20 hours with GoG Galaxy my time tracker will aways show 20 hours in game.

For achievements, the only way I have seen achievements update after playing a game without GoG Galaxy is starting up the game through GoG Galaxy and then load up a save, then I'll get all the achievements all at once that I earned while playing. I have even taking other people's save game and loaded it up on my PC to help them out with something and ended up getting all the achievements they earned that I never did through my own playing.

No, but if you select exit under the GOG icon menu (same place where you go for settings) that closes it completely.

Not sure about the time tracking and achievements, I imagine if the game is not indexed it shouldn't track them, but I haven't paid an awful lot of attention to how it works so couldn't be sure when it does and doesn't track.

That is indeed good option, but I think it would be better to know "how the game is indexed" and block just "that way" (like make only one file "write-protected"), not whole folder.

As long you disable autoupdating there's no reason to fear Galaxy indexing your games. It doesn't add DRM so they can only run through Galaxy or anything, it just adds them to a harmless list.

That information is stored server side and i've never seen an option to reset either.

But if you disable Achivements and Time Tracking in Galaxy from the start, you'll never have the need to reset.
