It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

And before you know it, you´ll get gamerscore points for real life achievements.

Maverick89: Uplay has a level system where you gain xp by getting achievements, Galaxy could make something like that, gaining xp by buying games, ahcievements, playtime. It's not some major feature but it would be nice.
So you want pointless social media features in Galaxy that are there only to make people with no lives feel better about themselves (e-pen1s power!).
avatar
amok: GemCraft: Chasing Shadows is a very good example of how to use achievements. Unlocking them give you skillpoints you use to buy upgrades, and other are over 400 achievements in total.

Not quite, as the game is very different (tower defence) , so no searching as such. But there us a game play incentive for achieving certain things, and replaying maps. You can ignore the achievements (though several will be fulfilled via 'nornal' gameplay), but it is fulfilling managing to do something difficult and get an actual usable reward for it.

blotunga: We don't need those. I don't even need achievements...
avatar
MaximumBunny: We don't need a web browser that can run extensions/add-ons. It just needs to be able to display the content of the web. Everything else is unnecessary.

Oh my how the opinions switch. "But I need my adblocker and this and that and..." - No, you just *want* those things. And people *want* Galaxy to have features. GOG isn't doing anything important, contrary to popular belief of the zealots. They're underworked and overpaid.
Well the current trend is to remove plugin support from browsers :)
So, you can't talk about new ideas on GOG forums, thanks moderators, this is why we can't have nice things.

Moderators? There's no such thing here. And yes, you can talk about new ideas here but don't expect people to agree with you just because you think it's a good idea. Gog needs to improve in many aspects, some are way more important than a "level up system", for example, having the updates at the same time as Steam and not 3 days later because there was a weekend in the middle...

Of course you can talk about new ideas in here. I think what you want is to talk about new ideas without anyone suggesting it is a bad idea.

If you couldn't talk about new ideas this thread would have been removed the second you started it.

Well maybe. That would have taken moderators, and there are none here. :P

Somehow I doubt you are going to get this. XD

Shit! Ninjad! XD

hedwards: Replace XP with penis length and the meaning becomes clear.

Randalator: Replace XP with "insidious gamification of consumerism as a means to subconsciously manipulate people to spend more money on your platform" and the meaning becomes crystal clear.
Well, that works as well.

Personally, I'll see my rank increasing and it's like, OK, I'm more rankly than I was before. They're not going to be giving out freebies or discounts to people for being the rankest, so I'm not sure what the point of it is. They already have a record of how long you've played, even though that's rather buggy.

This isn't a nice thing. And considering how buggy the site is, it's a complete waste of their resources to do that when posting will hang indefinitely if you don't close all the tags.

The reason we can't have nice things is primarily because GOG overextended itself with Galaxy and had to shortchange pretty much everything else in order to make a half-assed effort at galaxy.

It's not fair that you were downrated like that. You made a suggestion for something you'd like; others might not like an achievement-based level system (I personally wouldn't, to be honest) but there's absolutely nothing wrong with making the suggestion in the first place, and you really shouldn't have been downrepped for it. I'm sorry it happened to you.

I wonder... if the forum had a feature for making polls then would fewer people downrate to indicate disagreement? Hmm....

I don't care if people agree with me or not, there's no need to offend me.

Agreed, no need for this, just because people don't like my idea there's no need for all this.
Making polls feature would be great.

tinyE: xp for what? I'm confused by the term.
avatar
Acriz: TinyE, you seem a little out of touch lately. Every second post of you is asking the Op what he means or that you are lost by it and confused. What happened? Is time being mean to you? Did your age catch up to you?
He's not alone. At least half of the threads I read just make me want to reply with 'WAT'?

I don't care if people agree or not, there's no need for people like you to offend me. People like you are the reason the GOG forums are useless.
It's the internet, for example, World of Tanks could be a good game you know, it has potential, but if i were to go to their forums and say "Hey guys, i think that the matchmaking is unfair and this makes the game unbalanced, i mean, what's the point of of having tier 3 tanks vs tier 5 tanks when you can't even scratch them?" and people would go full tryhard mode saying that "it's a bigger challenge, you need to learn how to play, you don't say the same thing when you're tier 5 vs tier 3" and so on, that's why i don't even bother.

The same applies here, people are really defensive when it comes to changes related to gog so they go overboard the same way the guys on my example would.

As for TinyE, don't mind him, when you hang around for a bit you'll get used to him (not so much for his smell).

Tarm: You mean like in Dark Forces 2 (I think it was.) where you have to find secrets to get better force abilities? That sucked major poopsausage . Needing lots and lots of hours meticulously searching every level or a walkthrough for a major game feature. No_fucking_way!
avatar
adaliabooks: No, I'm thinking more about unlockable extras (new Classes and Races in ToME, or new ships in FTL). Haven't actually played Dark Forces 2, but I had heard about that and that's not the kind of thing I mean.

I just think if I'm going to be encouraged to kill 1000 goblins then I should get something more than a message saying "You killed 1000 goblins, yay!"

Well I'm not willing to try. I would be if it wasn't for the fact that if something like this is introduced there is no way in any dimension that it will get removed no matter how sucky it might be.

That's just your loss, to be honest, as it is a really great game, and one of the very few examples of games where achievements actually do have a purpose and are not just "sucky".
