Hello,

the Galaxy App again added itself to startup and it is also asking again for a login.
More and more the app become a malware, slowly but constantly.

If i say one time no start up and i enter login data one time - it should respect my decion and not bother me witrh monkey acitivities (manual logins). One unwanted login is 1000 logins too much!

I really have no sympathies anymore wirh the Galaxy-crapware :(

Everything seems to have spyware nowadays. Most launchers have some form of spyware, and so do game engines.

I'm only using Galaxy for downloading my games. Why not turn Galaxy off from starting up? It never pops up for me because I stop it.

I just updated. It didn't add it to startup, it didn't ask for any logins that I didn't already have attached. Not sure why this is happening for you.

Ìn order to install the latest version, you need to make sure, Galaxy wasn't running since your last login and then run the installer manually.

Apparently they fixed this bug with the latest version (2.0.60), we'll see if they were successful when version 2.0.61 comes :)

@OP Galaxy does not autostart for me and remembered the setting as well. I don't know what you did wrong.
Just uninstall it, no one forces you to use it, GOG is not Valve after all.

Of course we are now entering the realm of personal opinions, but IMHO all clients are "malware". If they were simple apps to manage and update your games, sure, I could see their utility, but these days all of them come with builtin telemetry.

As Themken quite aptly points out, the difference on GOG is that all games are DRM-free (in a broad sense at least, because there have been some violations of this ethos), so you don't need Galaxy to play them. Simply use the offline installers and update them manually whenever needed.

Never had such an issue. Just go to settings and change them as you prefer, for me Galaxy never starts automatically but I don't need to manually login when I start it either, you can't call it malware if you need only a minute to fix it from the options.

Just uninstall Galaxy and never use it again. Use the offline installers instead. (GOG calls them Backup installers and hides them in a drop down on the bottom of the game page)
Not sure what the heck you're talking about. I have "launch on Windows startup" turned off and it never does it. I only have to login once in a blue moon.

Check your settings.

Also using the word "malware" for drama is silly.
Yes, what awful hardship you've suffered.

I genuinely don't understand how some of you make it through the day with this level of whining.

I know, that's annoying actually.

They should just call them "offline installers" already, stop trying to hide them and start providing first class support to back them up as an acknowledgement that large part of their community still uses them as the main way to install and play their games.

Their attempt to normalize Galaxy across their entire community failed, because they never bothered integrating the core principle of their community (ie, we really do not want to depend on some centralized servers beyond our control to enjoy our games) into it.

Now, if they could kindly acknowledge the schism that this has created in how their community interacts with the store and support everyone equally, that would be great.

Good, acknowledging the problem is the first step.

Now, the next step is: stop using it and use the offline installers instead.

Great responses.

While "malware" is not correct, I will say in my opinion Galaxy is pushed using "malware-like tactics."

Remember when Flash existed and an update would come out, it would basically ask "do you NOT NOT want to install our Chrome/Antivirus/Garbage too". That's essentially the type of obnoxious way Galaxy is pushed with the giant "Download and Install Now", ad button on like every page here (looking at a download button as I type this!), offline installers hidden away and branded as "backup" rather than what I consider them: the primary and only.
