My friends mentioned that Kerbal Space Program 1.3, released a few days ago, was available since day before yesterday on Galaxy - but its still 1.2.2 on WWW library.

Its a stable release, not beta.

Is this the first time happening? Dear GOG would you please update the offline game? Perhaps this is an oversight. Thank you!

Edit: for the record, KSP 1.3 for all OSes was released on Thursday, 25 Mai, 2017 - as "ZIP" archive on the KSP website and sent to distributors (like GOG and Steam).

Edit2: RELEASED, 1.3 was released for standalone installer version on Friday 2 June, so one week later.

I'm also waiting for the newest version of Age of decadence which came to Steam over a week ago (around the 18th or so)...don't know if it's on Galaxy, but the offline installers still have only the old version. Which kind of annoys me.

Believe this is one of the games where the developers can push the Galaxy build directly.

Yeah, Gydion's got it. Squad probably has GOG's super-secret API to push their own patches via Galaxy instantaneously (I wish I could say they definitely have it, but GOG dug their own hole in this by giving the tech a limited release among developers), but the main uploads still require GOG staff, who won't be in until Monday, and even then it might not be at the top of their to-do list.

Why do the main installers still require GOG staff? Beats the hell out of me. Why weren't devs given the ability to push patches via the website years ago, even in the years before GOG started to bend on their principles? That's the question, because I bet those were the years when GOG developed the legacy system that's still running the website today.

Of course it requires GOG staff... it is their custom installer, personalized and everything, what makes you think that each single developer would go through the hassle of building AND TESTING a different setup package on behalf of each different digital store they sell their product to?!
If it happens to be an automated service like Steam/Galaxy API, then good, otherwise they just submit the raw updated data. These custom packages are not the dev's problem, they are the store's problem, as it should be

"... yes, and we take 30% of your revenue from each sale... oh, by the way, you need to submit the updates in our own personalized installer, do the testing for compatibilites and so on... yes, while paying US for the trouble, why you ask?!"

It is pretty obvious that the offline installers would always come later than the automatic patching from Galaxy, it's just the nature of the thing... why everyone keeps screaming "conspiracy!", it just buffles me

Do you know if this applies to InDev games too? I ask because Descent Underground received a patch on 1st April and another on 14th April, both of which have orange developer announcements in the game's forum (so I assume updates were made via Galaxy), but the latest installer is from 27th January. That's almost 2 months late now.

For InDev games I think it is even more true... when you have the need to patch frequently, constantly refreshing the offline installers is (understandably) a burden, and gets the updates out slower; giving the preference to a client like Steam/Galaxy, when available, makes perfect sense.

One of the main reason to have offline installer is so that you can preserve your full copy of the game without any need to have a working service available... but when the game is still incomplete, it is kind of redundant, since you are gonna delete those soon anyway; better stick to automatic updates with the client, and then download the installers when the game hits the release stage, IMO.

People needs to understand that Galaxy was not created only to remain competitive from the userbase point of view, but also from the developers point of view: if you make the update process entirely manual and more clunky than necessary, publishers will go elsewhere... when this store was mainly for "Good Old Games", that was not a problem, but if they want to have current games, and more so In development games, they need this kind of automated services available, and the traditional offline installers will inevitably come later
