Lin545: Scientists confirm, there is no life outside of the known Galaxy :P
Wrong. Life probably exists everywhere. But INTELLIGENT life is a different matter. That doesn't exist in this Galaxy! Let's hope it exists somewhere else.

Lin545: My friends mentioned that Kerbal Space Program 1.3, released a few days ago, was available since day before yesterday on Galaxy - but its still 1.2.2 on WWW library.Thank you!
That was one of the main selling point of Galaxy, it's one of the reason why it was created, to being able to have the patches faster than using offline installer.

Before Galaxy it was regularly days or even weeks after Steam that patches appeared on Gog; nowadays the patches appear on Galaxy nearly on the same day than on Steam (or one year later if the game is called Darksiders 2....) and then a couple of days later it appears as offline installers (faster if it's a "critical" patch).

It's not some conspiracy, it's by design, as other have mentioned devs can upload their patches directly into Galaxy while the offline installers requires more manual work from Gog so it takes longer.

morolf: I'm also waiting for the newest version of Age of decadence which came to Steam over a week ago (around the 18th or so)...don't know if it's on Galaxy, but the offline installers still have only the old version. Which kind of annoys me.
The Galaxy version is timestamped April 7.

Ok, so the newest version seems not be on Gog at all right now, thanks for the information.
Galaxy gets updates, website not
You don't say!
Gog installers were already second tier with several games having updates on steam that never made it here.

Now that problem will just get worse going forward with galaxy being placed ahead of them.
Harbinger of things to come.

Yep. "Top Gun - Geriatric Pilots" Or what was the title?
I'll keep it short - still no update.

When I was ... 15? I was creating installers for win2k myself using old nullsoft nsis installer. It took like - 10 minutes (20 with tea time).
So why not permit devs make them themselves by following some guide, giving some installer pre-configuration and grant them upload rights to gog internal repository? Strange, really strange.

Well the devs already complained that providing a "stand alone" patch was too complicated, and that was an often used as excuse as to why they were only updating the Gog version once in a while providing multiple patches for the Steam version in the mean time (like I said that was one of the reason for Galaxy); so you really expect those same devs to, on top of creating a stand alone patch, also create and test the installer themselves... not sure many of them would be very motivated to do it.
