Ok, so i bought a mouse mat with a wrist support on so my arm doesn't get wrist pain becuase of long gaming time, it worked like a charm in couple of days scrolling it with my wireless moue suddenly my mouse sensitivity was very and i mean very slow it looked like i bought a mouse mad on cement components i thought the mouse was the prob. first but when i removed mat and using it on naked table it was smooth as linear hair, what happened? is it because i bought it very cheap? do i need to buy some kind of oil because when i first got it it was oily at first but wasn't big deal since it's practically invisible and not very wety, now it's covered by dust, i washed it twice yesterday and today literally no effect and one thing to note is that after not using the mouse with mat for long time and reuse it again the mosue sensitivity goes normal but then it goes away again is like a trial for 1 min to have best pc experience. please somone help me on this i canno replay my favourite games on this device.

Don't bother with a special mouse pad. Get a good standard mouse pad, I paid about $30 for mine and it works great. Every now and then I hit it with a lint roller or a large piece of packing tape to remove lint and dust.

As for discomfort, I've actually been looking into this, reading a lot about preventing and or alleviating wrist pain/carpal tunnel and so far I've found what works best for me is just pausing to rest every once in a while.

I've had several specialized mice with pads, and they worked well enough, but they weren't really good for gaming. Typically those are designed for office workers who use their mice constantly but don't require the speed and precision needed for games. I found that a rolled up towel or wash rag under my wrist along with the aforementioned higher quality pad.

Honestly, just remind yourself to stop every now and then, only for two or three minutes, nothing major, flex your wrist, wring it out, get the blood flowing, stretch it out. You try that once every hour and I think you'll be surprised how much it works.

Now if you are on a massive MP/Online game your screwed because I don't think your fellow players are going to give you a three minute timeout, which sucks.

I usually game from my bed, 'cause i'm as lazy as it gets, and i was just thinking of getting a mouse pad because the change of sheets ruined my mouse's ability to detect changes. The trick is, there needs to be enough of something for it to see a difference. Dust is nice and fine, and that can cause some issues with the mouse seeing. tinyE's lint roller trick might work, but i don't know. Worst case scenario, try flipping it over, or turning it backwards and just using the table, but then you'll still have the wrist pillow, though i doubt those things actually do much of anything.

well as exactly you said, no wrist pillow at bottom and to top it all off it doesn't work whatsoever even though is understandble since it was meant to be used at top where the pillow lies at, is this problem common on most of the mouse pads?

No, if it's working on the table, try this: put the mouse pad down, grab the wrist support, and turn it 180 degrees so that it's backwards. Then you still have the wrist support, but now the mouse will use the table, and your forearm will be where the mouse is supposed to go.

If thatt somehow doesn't work, then i'm afraid either my instructions aren't clear enough, or your description of your mouse pad isn't clear enough.

As for this being a common issue with mouse pads, yeah. They were originally meant for the mice with the balls.

XD the other problem is that this laptop is attached with many devices (e.g. webcam with mic, headphones and mouse of course) and my table is very short these devices are very attached together like a tape so if i flip off backwards the pad it will fall off lol i always have to use another hand to prevent that, i'll always have to balance it out like moving my wrist to prevent that and this will hurt my gameplay, my mat has wrist pillow at bottom end along with curved cloth at top similiar as your fingers from thumb to pinky finger. do you need some kind of oil to fix it?
Blow out the lint from the eye of the mouse.

I use a €3 mouse pad and my mum uses a €3 cutting board made of plastic, both are excellent.

Taking a 2 minute break every hour is very smart. Get up, move around, stretch, flex your hands.

Is there an echo in here? :P

Also, and this is no shit, I just noticed the OP is a Republic Commando player, which means HE HAS REALLY GOOD TASTE. That is easily one of the best shooters ever. Very nice to see someone who appreciates the classics.

Well, if we're already rigging it, tape donuts or something. Right now i'm trying to google, and the search results are ridiculous.

Basically, your moue is looking for differences in the terrain (i'm thinking, 'cause i never really investigated how they work but just took it for granted). If it's not seeing differences (too duty, glossy, whatever), it can't tell you're actually moving it. Worse yet, what it considers really different might not be the same as what you consider really different. If you don't mind loss of resolution, try changing the DPI settings on the mouse so it doesn't take as much to move.

EDIT: i was right, but the technique is funky. Laser mice use infrared while optical mice use visible light. Infared light sees things much differently than we do, and i'd rather not get into what i mean by that on the forums, 'cause heaven knows people can do nasty things with that kind of information. Let's just say that he separation between black and white is really difficult for them.

Something else you could do is put something else on top of the mouse pad and tape it so it doesn't move: something that sees really well.

Thank you for taking time to help out a lost soul, i guess i have to buy another model that offers special surface unlike my blank amidst filled with dust that i have currently right now, the only think that shines brighter is the pillow but that's about it
What kind of mouse pad is yours, cloth or hard surface? The way you're describing it "covered by dust", makes me believe that it might be a hard surface mouse pad, and those can ruin your mouse feet. Usually any $10 cloth mouse pad is very good, and wash is with warm water and detergent every few months.
There are separate wrist support pads you can use with any mouse pad. Something like this. Or maybe you can cut your current wrist support from the mouse pad and use it with something else.
Holy molly, sorry guys for my absence i was in a bit of a pickle life is not going well lately but finally back to gaming which is the only thing in the world that can cheer me, as for my condolonces thank you all for taking time and helping a newbie that doesn't have much knowledge about this specific platform, i had to buy another pad since i'm seeing no improvement in the last couple of days hopefully that will have a longerlifespan and since we are here and black friday is running should i buy star wars: the jedi academy? i heard that star wars bf2 (no, not the *cough*EA version*cough*) multiplayer was shut down so it held me back from buying it, idk if this game also have the same story, which one do you guys prefer and do you even play them at 2018? curious to know :)

Yes, modern games are now sorely based on graphics, i don't buy games to watch a scenary. i buy the that let "you" the player immerse on the protagonist foots and plunge on whatever challenges (unless it's fair) that the game throw it to us
