zeogold: What is a MaGog, what the heck is with all this Eve business, who's Breja, why is the title of your novel such a horrendous pun, and why was I almost tempted to buy it due to that fact alone?
1) What is a MaGog? 1) MaGog is a search engine for GOG games:
- The website is here: http://www.an-ovel.com/pages/magog.php
- The thread is here: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/magog_a_search_engine_for_gog_games
2) What the heck is with all this Eve business?
2) Eve is the antagonist in the Parasite Eve series of video games. The protagonist of that series is Aya Brea, which happens to be my avatar.
3) Who's Breja?
3) Breja is one of the people who participated in _Slaugh_'s giveaway. Here is the post that precipitated my reaction: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_reckless_journey_of_santa_clausmystery_giveaway/post115
And in case you're wondering, so are Elmofongo, BranjoHello, helpo1, XYCat, seikus, bler144, and _Slaugh_ himself.
4) Why is the title of your novel such a horrendous pun?
4) This becomes clearer (or not) when one reads the novel, especially its last few pages. There are at least three separate explanations for the title. Plus, I love puns.
5) Why was I almost tempted to buy it due to that fact alone?
5) Because you appreciate fine literary fiction.

You and mrkgnao are very kind.
Also, DOWYW?

Ahh, it's a trap! I read on, thinking I was missing something, and it turns out there's an explicit puzzle at the end! Tempting me to sleep even less. http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_reckless_journey_of_santa_clausmystery_giveaway/post1509

Also, to my defence, I never intended this to be a riddle. I did my best not to plan ahead, but tackle each sentence as it emerged. But I like to build my writing on scaffolding, often list based, and I thought people might enjoy a glimpse at the scaffolding behind the edifice too.
P.S. The riddle has been solved by ZFR, after a few hints.

No to offend the guy, but don't lose any sleep on it. It's not worth solving, trust me. It's a SERIOUS longshot, and I've solved a puzzle where I had to translate code to numbers, mirror it, turn it upside down, and translate it from a different langauge. And this is coming from the Puzzlemaster himself, who's solved hundreds of puzzles just for fun.mrkgnao: and so on and so forth, so that after 113 guesses it ended up as this:

The Puzzlemaster, on his various explorations throughout the world to find a new puzzle, eventually stumbles upon a bizarre remote mountain tribe which deals solely in puzzles and hates outsiders. Tragically, he has been captured and gets hauled in front of the chief. The tribe has decided to put him to death, but kindly gives him a choice:
"You may say one final statement which will determine your fate. If you say a true statement, we will carry you to the top of the mountain peak and throw you off, so your death will be more sudden and you can enjoy the scenery as you go down. If you say a false statement, I will personally stab you in the heart with my prized dagger, which will probably be more painful, but an honorable death, and we will send you back down for a proper burial. Speak now!"
The Puzzlemaster, after a moment of thought, spoke one simple sentence. The chief thought for a few moments, and smiled heartily, then released him for his great cleverness. Fortunately, he's arrived back home safely, just in time to give you this puzzle.
What was the statement?
You could technically consider this an entry, if you like, although it's a puzzle that's been around for a while that I...eheh..."modified" for my own nefarious purposes.
