RE: Paygating -- as far as I know, this was something we wanted to stay away from so as not to discourage people that'd sign up to post asking if a game is still any good, or to look for recommendations. As someone said in the thread earlier, a paygate makes things complicated, kind of like signing up for sites that require a ton of data or a certain action - and it might still not stop scammers, since maybe $5 is how much the chance to troll people online is worth to some. However, I've passed the topic on to be discussed by those that have a better understanding of how such a system would impact you guys and future GOGers.

you could just paygate the rep system. I guess that would solve most of the rep problems in an instant and wouldn't impede any new users in asking about games or looking for recommendations. Those users don't need the right to massivly downvote a whole thread of people without having bought a single game on gog.

Disclaimer- don't really know if that's been said before (probably has haven't read it all - if then please just see this as a bump-)

EDIT: oh and if the scammer has to pay $5 to gog for every alt he creates to troll around on the forum, that's a huge new income for gog and makes the scammer poor pretty soon :D I could live with that
