i spent a week in Istanbul doing couchsurfing there and i can say that the people there are amazing and that the city is beautiful.
there are a lot of wild party animals and alcohol is definitely not banned, you can easily spot some group of girls chilling in some plaza, talking and drinking beer. Also one of the best beer i tried in my life is the Efes they sell there, which is quite different from the one made in germany or elsewhere outside Turkey.

that being said i also spent a lot of time talking about the political situation there at the time (2012 if i remember well) and they absolutely hate erdogan and consider him as a fucking dictator (and Atatürk as a hero). same thing when you speak with some turks here in germany, everyone from the illiterate kebab seller to the young university student hate erdogan.

there is also a quite scary story about his imprisonment or him being part of the muslim brotherhood.

the fact that he is still there is because he has a huge army and is heavily supported by the warmongers, chaos-exporters United-motherfucking-States.

i really hope both Turks and Kurds can find they peace and stability one day

vsr: I just mentioned, that Lithuania's president Grybauskaite blocked SPUTNIKNEWS.LV, because she doesn't like the content (too much criticism, i suppose).

Why ARD doesn't make movies about this butch?
Oh, RT has written an article. Nice!
Russia’s Sputnik news agency blocked in Latvia over allegations it 'threatens Ukraine'.

ScotchMonkey: Mother Theresa would wreck his shit!
I hit quick reply to his post and wanted to write Mother Theresa.

Then I read your post while I scrolled down. lol.

Klumpen0815: This escalated quickly.
Someone mentions Putin and it's cold war all over again...

What would happen if someone mentioned Gandhi?
This.

Breja: This thread makes me sad. And scared.
I think it is hilarious, in a sad way. I bet Kim Jong-un will soon join to oppose all the malicious propaganda against North Korea. 130% of North Koreans support him so if you hate Kim, you hate each and every North Korean, and their mothers too.

All that went through my mind was Gandhi diving off the top rope to elbow slam Theresa while Mr Rogers tries to get tapped in.

Vainamoinen: There are quite a few German speaking folks defending Putin in the comments. "Putin at least fights against the IS and was the first in environmental protection", this kind of angle. This "Ministry of Truth"... it doesn't do its work particularly well. :)
What? Whaaaaaat? Chelyabinsk is fucking poisoned because Cyprus offshores need its export copper, everyone has cancer or asthma or both. Radioactivity, chemical leaks, air pollution, destroying national parks to build secret villain lairs, the whole list.
Putin's only contribution to environmental protection is collapsing the economy.

Sadly Erdogan will probably stay in office because the majority of Turkish people are dumb, ignorant, country bumpkin Muslims in rural areas. The most educated and intelligent Turks are the city-dwelling youth.

You managed to insult my nation, my religion and my life style in one sentence. If is a medal for that, you earned it.

Erdogan doesnt have the majority of the votes in Turkey. He has 44% at the moment. He leads because other parties fail to unite against him and 10% vote baricade system enables his party to have more deputy despite his lack of votes.

44% is huge, stop making excuses. Most Turks are ignorant super-religious Muslims who SUPPORT his policies (and probably support the jihadists in Syria and also hate Kurds) and will vote for Erdogan no matter what, otherwise he wouldn't have won so many elections.

It's a shame that Mustafa Kemal didn't civilize and secularize your country more fully and get rid of religious ignorance and feudal mentality. He was definitely the greatest leader the Turks ever had.

Sounds like Turkey's election laws need an overhaul.

You clearly have no clue about Turkey. From your first sentence, you said

Erdogan gets majority of his votes from City population among young people who were raised them. Old people vote against him. Same with rural areas. Erdogan doesnt get votes because of religion. There were many religious parties in the past. They got 5% vote at most.

However I agree that Mustafa Kemal was the greatest leader Turkey ever had.

Don't waste your breath on him. It's the guy who thinks africans need a white dictator to whip them into shape, and Hitler was right.
