Martek: The game "launched" so his comment is accurate. Yes, he used typical "weasel words" after that, but he clearly didn't say it was not coming to Steam ("
It's something we would look at..") - only that it wasn't going to be at launch. Which it now isn't..
rtcvb32: I'd have to call BS. If you have to ask two questions 'Launch' and 'bring' to steam and you get two different answers then it clearly shouldn't. The statement looks and clearly seems to be they aren't bringing it to steam period...
Of course if we're using the 'weasel words' as you put it, then it's all about half truths, and if you're only talking in half truths by omitting such basic information with the implication of something else, then you're basically lying.
So far this company has no loyalty or interest from me, and there's a chance i'd boycott them for this shoddy behavior.
It will be not so bad if the give steam keys to early adopters rather than "considering now"
After all steam do not charge a penny for generating extra keys.
Why not do so? Maybe it has something to do with the phobia of reselling games? Do not trust his kickstarter backers enough not to sell the steam keys?
Yes I do not believe that the game cannot be "Launch" on steam. If there are a lot of technical difficulties and things incompatible with steam, just make a simple program to launch Elite Dangerous client from steam. The technical difficulties is almost zero as people can already add non-steam game on steam library.
So it is just a matter of want or not. Why not just say not now but will in the future.
Or is it because he know it is not ready for steam, but want people to pay for beta that is called "release", before truly releasing it on steam now that he is confident the game is beef up enough.
I am sorry, I seem to have a very negative perception of FD, so what I said may be overboard.
