There was one made for the NES. You played as the campers and Jason was on the loose. A unique if flawed game.
Ha :)! When I read the title, I automatically thought of this game (1985, Commodore 64): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkqDMLXO-mU
Well I wouldn't be too optimistic.

You were facing the screen when you played it, right? :P

I own every one of the movies on DVD so clearly I'm a fan, but that game was beyond shit. XD

In fact (name dropping) my once next door neighbor was in the original. Thank you. :P

Wait, doesn't that connect me to Kevin Bacon in six degrees or less?

It looked interesting, until I went to the website http://f13game.com/ and saw Steam on the bottom. If GOG does not carry it, I will not be playing it.

Oh well there is a big surprise. I think I'm going to die from being so surprised!
"Friday the 13th: The Game - Official Announcement Trailer"

Oh?!

"Take part in the ultimate asymmetrical multiplayer horror..."

Oh...
Bad or not, the NES one was a different type of game at the time. I am expecting this to be enjoyable be it as Jason or against him.

REDVWIN
Can anyone refresh my memory on the old NES Friday The 13th game? Were you throwing rocks or tennis balls at Jason? I always thought it was tennis balls. Somehow that made the game more playable.
Not going to lie, I used to play the NES one all the time, I loved it. My older sister was a master at it, she used to be able to beat it in under a half hour. And that was in the days before internet walkthroughs...
I think the gameplay concept alone will be enough to make the game successful, even if its not 100% perfect in all areas.
There are few things our mainstream loves more than multiplayer, and combining it with horror is a very smart idea.

I'm in doubt of how commercially successful quality horror can actually be when focused on single-player, looking at all the Alien Isolation special editions that are so cheap today. If a game sells really well the special editions tend to run out rather quickly due to their nature of being in limited supply, but with Alien Isolation they are still very much around.
Either they overestimated their sales or it didn't sell as much as we like to think.

So making a high-quality horror game multiplayer-focused makes more business sense in a way.
