ettac cigam si eman ym: Jesus, Eroge is a bit of a NSFW word to be putting in a thread title.

EDIT: Oh no, have I upset the incels?
Ah come on letters can't be NSFW. That is taking it a bit far.
It's not like you see any pictures that aren't appropriate.

And nah you didn't upset anyone, these threads attract downvote sprees, no need to use buzzwords.

Nice to see you here, troublemaker. Maybe GOG will wake up now.
I am out and I will leave this forum soon anyway since I am fed up with people like you and such discussions.
So have fun.

TheGrimLord: That's the name of the publisher.
avatar
ettac cigam si eman ym: I get that, and the publisher is welcome to name themselves that way but it still doesn't make it a good idea to put the name in a thread title.

Just to be clear, I have no issue with such games being sold here, I just care about not having something NSFW appear on my screen without warning. I don't want to have to browse the forums while looking over my shoulder, you know?
Unless your boss or spouse or anyone else know what eroge is i woudnt worry too much
the title/name eroge doesnt sugesst much withouth screensshots unless you already are into japanese culture and know a few things or two

An eroge (エロゲ or エロゲー, erogē; pronounced [eɾoɡe]; a portmanteau of erotic game エロチックゲーム, erochikku gēmu) is a Japanese genre of erotic video game.

Of course somone migth get curious and search up the word
but that woud happen with NSFW as well.

But maybe im mistaken and the word is a bigger issue and more known

What if I named my publishing company Fucktacular Games? Again, I have no objection to that but it's still NSFW. It's the workplace that decides on their standards of decency, not me.

I'm well aware of what it is a contraction of, that's precisely my concern. I don't particularly want to rely on other people's ignorance to protect me. :P

Protect you from what? A fiendish man with a giant hammer who walks around your home and may spaz out if he finds something unruly? XD

...you aren't getting in trouble with an employer because the online store has nsfw links, Amazon sells erotica as a subgenre of "Fiction".

You also get a blank page with a "This game contains mature content recommended only for ages 18. By clicking “Continue” below, you confirm that you are aged 18 years or older." notification in case you click them by mistake.

Screamshield: Not all types of games are for everyone. Why can't people understand that different people enjoy different videogames? You enjoy the games you enjoy and let other people enjoy the games they like. If they like anime tits and choose your adventure gameplay let them enjoy it.

Before you downvote my comment read it carefully. Maybe consider an upvote?
It's simple, really. There's an entire dearth of quality between the titles here, and those from actual retro platforms. Enjoy anime titty, but why not enjoy quality anime tiddy from the same platform that gave us Falcom's Brandish, or Princess Maker? There's absolute glittering gems out there and we're being rolled the dung beetle's finest.

All I'm saying is that 256 dithered colors do be lookin' pretty fly.

MarkoH01: Agreed but unfortunately GOG also seems to have problems tagging their games correctly. "State of Mind" i.e. is tagged with "sexual content" - I played the game and cannot remember it having anything that could be called "sexual content". So in this case games like that would be hidden from the user who only prefered to not see the explicit games.
avatar
SmollestLight: We are using databases to apply the tags on each game and it has been flagged as containing mature content with a warning:
This Game may contain content not appropriate for all ages, or may not be appropriate for viewing at work: Nudity or Sexual Content, General Mature Content
Therefore, this is correct.
Is there any feedback from your content team about fixing the databases that are supplying the tags, or choosing more reliable sources? It's been pointed out in another thread that one of the source databases is polluted with memes.

You're talking about the original Brandish. Do you see it on Steam? Really, any platform? Come on now. You know that the only thing that may happen with these titles is a remake. They did remake Princess Maker though, but doubtful we'll get it here. You act as if GOG can just snap their fingers and these games will appear. It doesn't even work that way on another platform where they do ask for requested games. You are better off fixing up the abandonware versions yourself.

Additionally, the only thing that people want from Falcom right now is more Trails. That's it. These games are like heroin to people. It's virtually the Final Fantasy of this generation. I've read posts where people claim these are the best role playing games ever made. I bet they've never even heard of Brandish! So Falcom probably has zero interest in doing anything with the series. I know this is hard to believe, but the hairs are going grey on our heads for a reason.

It's simple, really.

The vehement opposition to adult games has nothing to do with opposition to the quality of said games. There are lots of low quality games on here. Few of which are ever pursued by the cult of "quality checkers." The majority of those just die a quiet death.

But whenever an adult game shows up, the warriors of virtue show up out of the sewerworks to scream and cry about it; all under the veil of "it's low quality" or one of many other equally preposterous contrivance.

It's no mistake that the "standards" demanded by the types like you are consistently inconsistent. They literally only apply when some adult game shows up and doesn't meet some subjectively defined "quality barrier."

This has absolutely nothing to do with quality and the "bu...but..bbut low quality" excuse is nothing more than a sorry attempt at justifying a deeper, pettier ulterior disposition.

More power to you if you wanna believe your own lie. But perhaps most detestable is the fact that the gears inside your head turn slowly enough that you're somehow convinced nobody else can see straight through your veil of deception.

It just proves my point further--you've the cognitive capacity of a gradeschooler--that you somehow convinced yourself others too should believe that it's actually because you really care enough they "enjoy anime titty, but why not enjoy quality..."

Oh, how so thoughtful of you! /s

It's simple, really.

This has nothing to do with the quality of the game. Or so that it doesn't take away from other bigger releases here on GoG. Or for the well-being of others. Or any of countless other pathetic excuses the pornophobes give to justify their opposition to adult themed content in general.

I think more people woud know the connection to Fucktacular Games rather than eroge games unless somone dindnt have education in sex ed or doesnt know about sex at all
and as i pointed out NSFW woud probably raise a few eybrows as well
but as i said i migth be mistaken and the word eroge is more known than i actually belive

So you're afraid that this could happen?

"Glad to see you made it here, vice president of the company. Was the traffic bad? Anyway, this is George, the best worker in the building. George is just uh...."

"George... What's that on your screen? Is that the kind of thing you do on your free time?"

"It's not what it looks like? Then what am I looking at here?"

"My word, in all my years I never thought I'd be disgraced by such pornographers as the one I've seen today. I think I've seen enough, you'll all be furloughed next week. Honestly, pornographers in my business..."

Or maybe this?

"Hey, George! We're all going to do hot women stuff when we get off work, like sit in a hot tub, drink and compare breasts... We were wondering if you might want to come.... Hey, what the hell is that on your screen? Are you into cartoons?"

"It's not what it looks like? Those are just games on the website? These are the kinds of games you play, George? Well, if that's what you're into, I guess. On second thought, we'll go see if Bob wants to go. Enjoy your cartoons, now."

So yeah, I get your point.

I think you meant your post either as a joke or sarcastic remark
but just in case it is not known

Unless you work in the adult industry
looking at porn or something even in breaks or simmilar can get you fired from work
some companys even make a scapegoats of the employees they catch doing that.
Of course if you look at porn rather than working the action is justified
ecxept the scapegoating wich is a terrible practice.
