There is also a Hollywood remake of that movie called "Brick Mansions", but it is quite awful, don't watch it.

The cool (or "cúlè" as the French say) thing about French gangsters is that they are all very athletic and do parkour day in day out. They are not like e.g. Italian mafia gangsters who are very fat from eating salami pizza day in day out.

"Strictly speaking"? That's not a gangster movie by even the loosest, most generous definition. It's got elements of at least five or six other genres, though. :P

I took four years of French in high school, going on thirty years ago, and THAT IS ALL I RETAINED! :P
Problem is, shortly after I learned it they changed marchons to chantons which made it a little confusing.

I never heard a "chantons" version. And I've heard many.
