[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic. (this one)
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

Makotolia: Hi guys, I've got a question about the Indiegala Golden Flash GA.

I tried to redeem the code, and it turns out to be "a game already in my library", HOWEVER, steam doesn't tell me what exactly it is. And when it tries to install it, I always got a connection failure. So, I wonder if there's a way to tell which game the key is for? Now I feel kinda stupid...imagine that "Hi, zeo, I've got a key to donate. It's a steam key for, uh, for..."
If you press "Done" instead of "Close" in this message then Steam will try to install the game and you will be able to see the name.

Actually, it IS after I presses "Done" and when Steam tried to install the game that I got the installation failure (not connection failure, I was mistaken, sorry), and thus I can't proceed to see the name. Sorry for my unclear description. But thanks anyway!

Btw, there's no "Close" after Steam informing me that the game already exists, only "Done".

xalegra: I think your best bet would be to send mail to support at Indiegala explaining your particular situation. You can also send same mail to Steam support, but I recommend contacting Indiegala first since you have obtained the key there.
Thanks for the advice, I'll try to contact Indiegala first :)

So when you press "Done" it should redirect you to installataion window with the name of the game in it.

At least it works for me this way.

Yeah, I understood your advice. It just seems some problem happens right AFTER "Done" and right BEFORE the installation window, and thus I can't check the name on the window ('cuz it never shows). I know it's weird, but that's my situation here.

I experienced the same. A friend redeemed it later. It was one of those games, Steam had delisted; probably that's the reason why no title was shown.
IndieGala seems to have a myriad of keys for those games.

Actually that key I got was for:
Break Into Zatwor + Absconding Zatwor + Fiends of Imprisonment.

Thanks for the info. Now that you mentioned it, yeah, that's likely the situation here.

If you use the web activation page and view the developer console in your browser, you'll see the response from the server after you submit the key which indicates the ID and name of the game.

By '...developer console...' are you referring to the one brought up by F12 / Ctrl+Shift+J in Chrome, no idea what it is in Firefox

Either way I cannot see the information I am looking for..

* I full accept that it is because I am doing it incorrectly

Yep, if you click the "Network" tab, then submit your key, you'll see a new row "ajaxregisterkey" from the server. If you click it, you can see the content. Expand the sections and you'll see the game info. Sorry, I'm on mobile now or I could give you a screenshot and more specifics :)

Now I'm at my PC. Specifically the response you want to look at is "ajaxregisterkey" -- click it and you'll see something like this:

When I try to activate the key from the Steam client (not via browser) and it says "product already owned", if I click on "finish" it prompts me the window to install the game(s).. does it work for you too?

Expand the line_items row... The name might be too long (the Zatwor ones are very long for example)

misteryo: *snip*
Wow, this is super cool! Thank you.

btw, the key turned out to be for "Why So Evil + Why So Evil 2: Dystopia + Brilliant Bob".

Since OP isn't with us anymore and not everything is clear, I've decided to open new Massive Giveaways (B)log
Anyone interested feel free to keep the G-Community informed about giveaways there or wherever ; )

Please note, the brand new thread is only about massive giveaways, posting private codes not allowed ; p

Fliplomacy

"Move, Jump, FLIP!

The game is inspired by classic games such as Othello, Checkers which require strategic movement to flip the opponent pieces and mixes this mechanic with the concept of 'Flip States' (a term commonly used in US Elections!).

The game is a board puzzle game with the tiles of the board representing the 'States' which could 'flip'. The flags on the top of the State tiles represent which side the State is tilted towards. The protagonist in the game is a ‘Diplomat’ who has to traverse the board to ensure that all the 'States' are flipped towards his side."

mike_cesara: Minecraft: Story Mode - A Telltale Games Series Episode 1 is now FREE - for a limited time! (Steam)

adding the game from SteamCMD or console:

app_license_request 560040
avatar
mike_cesara:
Is there a way to add it without SteamCMD? I installed and even started, yet still it didn't register on my steam licenses page.

Of course there is. mike_cesara just wanted to show a way in which you don't even need the client at all. However of course it's still possible to just start the client go to the store page of the demo and install it from there ("download demo" button) - if you don't mind using the steam client.

BeatriceElysia: why did I posted here?
Because you unconsciously wanted to ask for a game :-)
