[This is a sticky post, it will be visible in every single page of this thread. It has been published in October 2020.]

Our moderation team decided not to take a side in the discussion since this giveaway thread was created by the community and, as long as there are no forum rules violated, is up to you, dear Gogers, to decide its fate. We will not set giveaway rules, edit the OP's post, nor lock the whole thread.

However, to make it easier for newcomers to understand the situation (about the OP being inactive and other), I will stick my own post right above the first one.

You are, of course, free to create new threads to start anew and make your own, clear rules. At the same time, please stay reasonable when crating them, as multiple new duplicates might make it even more confusing for many Gogers.

That being said, here you can find a post with dxenija's community poll to have better understanding of the situation: CLICK.

At the time of writing, open giveaway threads are:
- Massive Giveaways Blog
- Free (temporary) keys giveaway central topic. (this one)
- Updated Itch.io giveaways

Be nice to each other *flies away*

skeletonbow: After they waste my time trying to make an account they tell me "this service not available in your country" and refuse my account. How about detecting the country first and displaying that before someone fills out the data to make an account? <sigh> They also don't support email addresses containing a "+" character in them because they do not know how to read RFC822. <sigh-sigh>

Ah well, not a big deal. Just a minor annoyance. :)
For me it somehow automatically chose Palestine, only to claim Paypal is unavailable in a non existent country...
But when I chose Israel manually all was fine. Maybe you can choose some other country instead? I doubt they check by ip.

PookaMustard: Maybe you filled the country in the details, hence why it refused the service after you made it. I'd try with a VPN to see if the issue is account-related or IP-related.

Opera's VPN feature is a life saver for this.
Naw, it's not like it was an offer for DOOM or Fallout 4 or something to make the trouble strongly worthwhile. :) Seems like a decent game, but I generally only click the mouse a couple of times or perhaps go through a simple painless problem-free account setup and a few mouse clicks for the average freebie game promo. If there are problems to resolve, tech support to contact, "share on Facebook, Twitter" etc., or other hoops to jump through in the process then it's not worth it to me unless it is some big time epic AAA game or similar. ;oP

I just went back and tried it again and used Canada, Germany, and the UK, and the error message every time says that the service is unavailable to me currently either in my country or at my IP address.

Checking via IP address is incredibly trivial using geoip lookup via Maxmind (which is what GOG uses) or some other service, so I fully expect that they do use geoiplookup especially if they have any need at all to filter based on country of origin as that's the only really reliable way to do it.

I could shim through a UK proxy over ssh, but as interesting as the game looks, it doesn't look interesting enough for me to go set up a VPN for 15 minutes and still not know for sure if it will work or not. :) Chances are due to this freebie promotion that there will be 1000s of free copies of the game floating around in giveways, Steamgifts.com etc. for months to come, giving a bunch of opportunities along the way. :)

Well it's already in a couple of IndieGala giveaways, If you have an account there. Chances are pretty slim though - I for one never won anything so far (been trying sporadically on titles I have a mild interest in within last couple of weeks)

Also on Indie Gala - they are currently offering a free Endorlight key for Steam. I already have it so It might not be the first time.

Funny you should mention that as I was on IndieGala today and looking at my library and saw something about giveaway points and had no idea what that was all about. I investigated and discovered their giveaway service. I've seen it before but never really paid much attention to it, however I actually tested it out earlier and entered a few giveaways for the actual game we were talking about. LOL So kind of a strange coincidence that you mentiond it also. :)

I have that Endorlight game on there also, and most of the other freebies they've offered over time. Hrm, I should check to see if I already have that spacecom on IndieGala LOL

I'm Canadian and I already had an account there, but I managed to get the game without any problems. I definitely didn't use a VPN or anything like that, either when I created the account or when I claimed the game. So that makes it even more strange...

Interesting, lemme try in a different web browser...

Update: Tried from another browser and it doesn't work there either. They seem to have blacklisted my ISP or IP range or something then I am guessing although I couldn't imagine why. No sweat off my back either way though. Another free game will come down the free game promo cannon visible on the Epic Bundle Free Games radar in 24hrs or thereabouts on queue anyway... :)
