It came from the jungle!

Flight of the Amazon Queen, a classic point-and-click adventure that takes you through a story taken straight out of 1940s pulp magazines, full of witty humor and top-notch pixel-art graphics, is available on GOG.com as a FREE download!

My name's Joe King, and this is my story. Unbelievable as it may seem, it is a true story. You might not believe me, that's OK. I don't care much. You wanna know why? That's because when you get to tell someone your story, chances are there won't be any Hollywood stars in it, no mad scientists, now ancient temples lost in the jungle, and no plots of world domination. Sure, your story might be exciting too, maybe even weird at times just like mine, but I'm well damn sure your's won't have a super-scientific dino-ray in it! Well, mine has one. So, grab a cold one and let me tell you the tale of a certain journey. It all began with the girl...

Flight of the Amazon Queen is a point-and-click classic sporting traditional, beautiful pixel-art graphics, funny writing, a grand story based on many prolific pulp fiction clichés, and lots of full-speech in-game dialog. You will instantly fall in love with the story's mood and pacing, and the brilliant puzzles will keep you entertained for many hours. To read a story like that in the 1940, you'd have to pay whole 10¢. Today, as a part of GOG.com 5th birthday celebration, you can play for it absolutely FREE!

Find out what mysteries the jungle holds, foil the plot of an evil genius, present great bravery, let your wit shine, and--finally--get the girl in Flight of the Amazon Queen, available free of charge on GOG.com!
Okay, you really blew my mind, GOG. Even when G-Doc said our mind's would be blown in May, it was never blown to this degree. I really never expected two freebies virtually back to back. Awesome.

clap ... clap clap ... clap clap clap clap clap

If we can see the Humongous games (at least Pajama Sam 1) released here, preferably with soundtracks, then I will personally call 2013 my best year on GOG.

tomimt: While looking at this thread, I do have to ask, you people do know that Amazon Queen has been available for free for ages through ScummVM's official site?

Crosmando: Same for Dreamweb
Yes, and it was a freebie on DotEmu before, too, but for many of us it's cool to have it in the house formally known as Good Old Games. :)

Yes, I do. I actually gave it a try because it was for free in Ubuntu Software Center years ago :).
And another instabuy for me! Thanks GOG.com looks like fun.
GOG version of FOTAQ takes over 200MB on HDD. Seriously? I've got the game already from the official ScummVM website as a single file (queen.1c), which is 4x smaller.
thanks gog!
Fun for free!

I think thats because they put possible essential drivers into the pack which makes it bigger
Stargunner is free as well.
Amazing! i was wondering just the other day whether this would turn up on gog and now it's here for free!

One of my favourite all time adventure games. Full of old school charm.
Another free game, many thanks, GOG! :D (or not, backlog only growing bigger xD)

benmar: Indiana Jones meets monkey island. And it is glorious!
A good beginner's point and click adventure.
So you'd recommend this for a beginner? I think I do have other adventure games on my shelf (quest for glory, the longest journey, tales of monkey island, back to the future, book of unwritten tales and of course the other free games), but I don't know which would be best for me. I remember that I wasn't really good at puzzles when I was younger - and I think that that disadvantage stayed with me till now :P

Yeah, ScummVM itself for this game and other basic stuff (icons, place is game explorer, etc.), like with every game on GOG. But even without this, my version is smaller. My theory - GOG has the unmodified original and I have version with MP3-compressed audio.
About damn time, welcome home FOTAQ. ;)
Is it Fotaq_talkie!
