OldFatGuy: Yeah, you're right, I got my brain mixed up again. The site I always downloaded from before was the UESPWiki, not Bethesda. Sorry to all.

But yes, these have been available there for quite some time (years, not months) but again, as JMitch pointed out, the free ones from UESPWiki do have a different Arena version, as it is the floppy version whereas the gog version is the CD version which some voice acting in some of the cut scenes.

FTR, here is the link to the free Arena that includes DOSBox and here is the link to the free Daggerfall. (NOTE: You may have to scroll down near the bottom to find the downloads)

Also, there is a link here for the CompUSA patch of Daggerfall that adds content. (Because you know, there wasn't enough content in Daggerfall..... lol)
I hate to nitpick, but the preconfigured "[game title]Setup" installers are actually not hosted on the UESP; that site merely links to the respective download pages on wiwiland.net, the (mostly French-language) site that put together, and still hosts, these versions.

The relevant Wiwiland pages (English-language versions):
http://wiwiki.wiwiland.net/index.php/Arena_:_ArenaSetup_EN
http://wiwiki.wiwiland.net/index.php/Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN

Also, it should be noted that the CompUSA Quest Pack is not only already included in DaggerfallSetup.exe, but is (if I remember correctly from when I re-installed this version a couple of days ago) a non-optional install component -- i.e., you get it installed whether you like it or not (though I can't imagine too many people are going to object =P ).

Ganni1987: Setting up DOSBox isn't that hard, not everyone is tech savvy I understand that, so the whole process depends more on one's experience. The first thing I do when I buy a dos game on GOG is to move it to my all-round dosbox config, write up a few batch files and all done in about 10mins.
This. DOSBox really isn't hard to set up and I usually end up at least tweaking GOG's setups. I had also set up Worms United and Theme Hospital in DOSBox 'GOG-style' long before GOG started selling them. People are just too lazy to learn things...

So do I. One of these days I will marry her. :D

monkeydelarge: Yeah but those free games haven't received GOG's magical touch. :)

Elmofongo: And the Bethesda version expects you to set up DOSBox yourself and than download the game, which is bullshit.

GOG version completely negates that now you can just download, install, and play the game.
What do you want??..gift wrapped too??

I have installed DOSBox to play Daggerfall before and man was it a chore.

I had to find some numbered code to register the game from some obscure website.

"Numbered code"? "Register the game"? To use DOSBox?

ithilien827: I prefer to pay a small fee to have my games easily available for the forseeable future.
there's many ways to do that though... but i guess buying a game on discount(@ around 1.99 USD?) from GOG.com is probably cheaper than paying a subscription for a reputable cloud storage service.

Any in bikinis will do me.
So is this a thing now? Every couple of hours it seems someone posts a thread revealing the awful truth that Arena and Daggerfall are available at Bethesda's website. The sleuthing abilities of goggers here should be highly praised.

We should always be happier to get new publishers here, but sometimes I just cringe when it happens, knowing full well what Pandora's box is going to pop open once it does.

Next we'll get people posting links to GOG games on Pirate Bay saying "Look, you can get all these games for free!"

Only flaw I see is that you accidentally linked to a site where people rate pies. And here I thought I'd finally found a copy of Super Game Pack 101! =(

Among the issues:
Character after http should be ':', not '|'
URLs use forward slashes, not backslashes
pierate is spelt wrong
site isn't a .com
Super Game Pack 101 doesn't seem to actually exist
Link does not go to where the url says (link is to nocookie.net)

aluinie: I am happy having them here as they are part of the elder scrolls history and not having them here would be like having one of your body parts missing.
Even if Arena is equivalent to a manky toenail :-p

:P Well i did intentionally make the link completely useless, but the link if you click it also is an image that says 'just kidding' (it does for me...) :P

But yes i recall doing every one of those. You did miss one though... If it's the pie rate bay, you missed the minor Michael part which would be Michael Bay's pie rating site in the end... although that wasn't exactly incredibly obvious or subtle... But i honestly didn't expect anyone to see that... nor that it's noted in the uk... :P
