Seeking game suggestions for a single player FPS game with a campaign in a modern setting (something with a story taking place in the timeframe between the Vietnam War and the present time).

I'm imagining something with a story like Call of Duty but either based on true events or at least based on fictional events from a war that actually happened (i.e. Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam...).

Soundtrack preference: classical (or at least not rap)
Release date: nothing older than 2010 pls

A good way to try to find games is first look up the category that you want to buy/play then using the filters to try to target your search. Then you can look at all the games that fit what you might want and pick the one that looks the best or has the best reviews.

It's neither FPS nor based on real conflict. Still not bad game though.

Delta Force games perhaps?

oops, my bad, for some reason that game just popped right in my head.... then put my head into a choke hold and refused to let go until I listed it..... but then the game refused to let go of the choke hold and started rubbing it's knuckles into the top of my skull.

NAM got you covered, unless you don't like to get killed by booby traps which you can barely see of course. Fine, it's kinda janky, but i somehow like jungles in the build engine.

The only one that comes to mind that meets all of the criteria is Medal of Honor from 2010, which is based on the war in Afghanistan.

However it's only available on Steam or Origin.

Since you referenced Call of Duty, I assume you're aware of the Battlefield series, but in case you're not; Battlefield 3, 4, Bad Company 2, and Hardline all fit your criteria, I think.

That sounds really nice, not sure I've ever played one like that.
Would be nice to find one that isn't a maze map, just a fun story driven fps.

ARMA cold war assault.

I was so happy to get Crysis and Crysis Warhead on GOG. That SecuROM DRM in the Steam version is nasty stuff. iirc it even has a limited number of installations/activations.

I disagree with the consensus of society and think Crysis Warhead is the best of the series btw. The pacing of that game was awesome. Never got bored...
