It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I wanted to let you know that, effective today, we’ve removed the report system from our forum. It’s something that was formerly designed to enhance your forum experience, but we’ve learnt the hard way that it ultimately did the opposite to some of you, which was never our intention. While we cannot commit to bigger forum optimizations for the time being, we’ve decided to take this step in order to improve your overall experience.

Another frequently brought up topic is the post review system – we are also considering removing this feature for the time being, but would like to listen to your opinions on the matter before we commit to this measure.

hey everyone. I've read your opinions on the downvote/upvote system we had and I liked your suggestions to leave the option to upvote and remove the downvote option that unfortunately helps in spreading negativity and can be under bot attacks.

That's why, as you may have noticed, starting well, a couple of minutes ago, we've removed the option to downvote posts.

Wishmaster777: If you ever feel useless, remember there were people who dedicated part of their life downvoting the posts on a Gog forum, just to lose such option after couple of years of their abuse of the voting system.
Tbh it would have more of an effect if they actually removed it rather just just blocking users from it. Bots etc can still mass downvote but it seems to not display for long as either staff remove them or there is a script that removes them.

We have seen downvoted appear several times across the forum since they "removed" it.

Do you honestly believe that the Gog's employees are competent enough to remove it entirely?
First, they need to learn how to code. Look at the mess that the forum is: search bar was never functional, wishlist is without the option to sort the games alphabetically, or customly sort them, they can't figure out how to make a valid system to report spam separately from reporting violations (they rely on a topic thread instead), new Gog Galaxy doesn't have the option to access the forum like it used to, they can't figure out a bug to fix the purple dot that is permanently attached once a user receives a forum reply. Overall, their knowledge for development of quality of life improvements is weak.

Of course not. Their website is broken and user unfriendly, support is bad with the bot which is really poorly coded, and then there is the whole forums thing.

One thing that i've learnt from being here since 2012 is that GOG's current empyloyees know sod all about site design, forum design, support design and coding across the board.

It was was never great, but it used to at least function as was probably intended (e.g., you could actually search for multi-word phrases without it breaking). It was probably around 2016ish that some site change broke the forum search, leaving it in its current state ever since.
And let us not forget that they do not know how to code the edit option for reviews.

Because the have not created one, does not mean they can't or don't know how. Maybe it's just a case of, they just don't want to...

I bet they say the same to one another as a consolation prize. It is due to their lack of knowledge, and it is obscene.

Decreasing workload of support should be in their own best interest. Removing the character limit, adding the ability to embed screenshots, videos or both and a comment section would further improve the system.

Comments should be linked and displayed in a game forum. This serves numerous purposes:
❶ Comments will populate a forum which would otherwise remain empty leading to more activity and creation of a community around a game.
❷ The ability to write comments will draw the attention of developers and publishers to GOG. They will closely monitor ensuing discussions and leave replies to reviews or comments.
❸ Once they become active chances are they will pay more attention to needs and wants, more regular updates etc.

GOG could also help it along by implementing a news/update section on the store page for them to maintain and update. This should cause them to pay even more attention to GOG and our community, else they run a risk to be seen as not interested before a game has been released or shortly after. It would also help us to see whether their only interest is selling us a game, or whether they are willing to go the extra mile to provide the same support here as they do on other well known shops.

HANZ3R: try taking the advice of many a SJW and go "touch grass."
Which is much more comfortable and appealing than "touching cloth"...
It seem's to be rather echoey in here. Hmm!, I guess I must have taken a wrong turn back there somewhere, and somehow ended up in this metal chamber...

You's two carry on patting each other on the back, and don't mind me, as I'm just on my way back out...
