"Labourer 273-C please return to your job. 6 minutes have elapsed since you were last working, 1 minute beyond the approved break length. Please be aware that an appropriate amount of nutrition will be removed from you daily allotment for time not spent working."
And the drone moves on, its four cameras taking in everything. Twin rotors holding its pristine white metal chassis seven feet above the grimy workshop floor.
Damn snoop. Can't they leave a man alone for one minute? If they gave us a bit of tech we could take a reasonable break and still meet their miserable quota. But no, "Machines cannot be spared for tasks humans are capable of completing." Lies. Every per-recorded word that comes out of those steel traps is a lie. "Machines must govern, a task unsuitable for humans" my foot. Seems we did alright before someone created these metal trash heaps, damn every last one. That's probably not even possible, as there’s no soul under all that white. No soul in any of them. Maybe that's why they hate us, we’ve got souls and they don't. That's what I heard Ricky say, he might be right, he was a smart bloke. Too bad about that hovercraft accident... wonder what happened to his family. Haven't seen them, but he always said he had friends looking out for him. Friends who didn't take orders from electronics. Friends who made their own nutrient compounds. Friends who thought humans were perfectly suitable for government. I wonder...
"Labourer 273-C you have now been idle for 7 minutes. If you have medical issues please report them at the nearest terminal were you will be given an appointment with a medical droid. Otherwise, please return to your work. Please be aware that an appropriate amount of nutrition will be removed from you daily allotment for time not spent working."

Welcome to the first game of GOG Forum... Resistance! This is a game very similar to mafia. One small team of spies (scum) is trying to stay hidden in the larger group of loyal Resistance fighters (town).

Rules
The game is played over 5 missions. Each mission will end either in a pass or a failure. The spies are trying to get three fails, the Resistance, three passes.

A certain number of players are sent on each mission. Each mission may involve a different number of players. Each player on the mission submits an action; if you are Resistance you submit a pass, if you are a spy you have the choice of submitting a pass or a fail. Only one fail is needed for the entire mission to fail!

So who goes on the mission? Each mission team is chosen by the captain. This position rotates. The captain chooses the appropriate number of players for the mission (the captain may choose himself) and submits this proposition to the group. At this point all players (not just the ones on the proposed mission) will vote on whether they approve of the mission team. It's a simple "yes" or "no" vote for each player. Majority rules. Each player sends their vote privately to the moderator.

After voting is complete the vote results are displayed, including what each player voted. If the mission team is rejected the captain role passes to the next player in line, and the process starts over. Be warned, if the fifth mission team in a row is rejected the spies automatically win since there is too much discord in the Resistance. Because of this the fifth proposition is automatically sent on the mission.

If the mission team is approved, then we move to the mission phase. Here all players on the mission message the moderator their action (pass or fail). After all actions have been collected the total results are posted, not individual actions.

Team proposal
This is done only by the captain. When you have decided who you want to send you will post a proposal in this form:

Mission 2, Team Proposal 4
Team Captain: Leonard03
Members: Leonard03, Bookwyrm, TheGOGfather

Voting
All players have the opportunity to vote on whether they think the team is a good one. You'll need to PM the moderator in the following format:
Mission 2, Team Proposal 4: yes

Voting Conclusion
The moderator will post the voting results, like so:

Mission 2, Team Proposal 4
Leonard03: yes
Bookwrym: yes
TheGOGfather: no
agentcarr16: no
BananaTrees: yes
Cloud: yes
CaptainAmerica: no
Team ACCEPTED

Mission Actions
Players on the mission PM in their actions. If you are Resistance your only option is "pass". If you are a spy, you may choose to either "pass" or "fail" the mission. Only one fail is needed to bring the whole mission down! Please use this format:
Mission 2: fail

Mission Results
The moderator will post the results of the mission in the following way:

Mission 2
Team Captain: Leonard03
Members: Leonard03, Bookwyrm, TheGOGfather
Results: 2 successes, 1 failure.
Mission FAILED

Things that are known at the start of the game:
-The number of loyal Resistance, and the number of spies.
-The number of players that need to go on each mission.
-Mission 4 is special: depending on the number of players, it might require 2 fails in order to fail. M4 is the only potential exception to the "one fail makes the mission fail" rule, and whether it needs 1 or 2 fails will be known at the start of the game.
-The spies do NOT have any private quicktopic thread. They know who are spies, but their only method of communication is in the game thread.
-Communication with other players about the game outside of the game thread is strictly forbidden.
-If you don't submit a vote or a mission action by the deadline, it will default to "Yes" and "Pass" respectively.
-Unlike Mafia, players are NOT eliminated during the game. Even if everyone knows exactly who the spies are, the spies can't be removed from participating (they can still talk, vote on teams, submit actions if on a mission team, and submit proposals when it is their turn).

That's it!

The game is for 5-10 players. It's going to have deadlines, so please make sure you will be able to post regularly before signing up!

Special thanks to Bookwyrm627 for helping me set this up. He is also now the assistant moderator, you have been warned.
And to bler, who was the first.

First?
In, I guess.
First! I did it!

Anyway, for the time being I'd say put me on the alternates list. Could change, but that's the most likely state of things.

Just cause I let you, I didn't want to go first! :þ

this seems interesting

very curious

I'll give it a whirliegoo
Interesting setup. Something different. Time to come back out of retirement. I'll play.
I'm definitely in. This should be fun, and it'll be different from regular mafia.
Huh, now this...this doesn't look like a Mafia game. This looks like something else entirely, and I'm interested.

Guess it's time to dust off Puzzle-Bot. Count me in.
This reads like the board game featured in the Tabletop Youtube show

I'm in as an alternate.

Question: Can the members of the Resistance communicate in private?

It's different, certainly. I'm hoping that it will let people do some deducing while not taking as long as regular Mafia.

Also, welcome back!

Probably. He's basing it off a board/card game by the name of The Resistance.

Welcome!

Nope. There's no private communication between players at all.

agentcarr16: Nope. There's no private communication between players at all.
Good.
I expected that but I think the OP only specified it for the spies.
;)
I AM IN! I wanted to play a game with spies in so long.

That's what I thought.
I do expect to enjoy this one more based on the rules.

Why not? It won't spoil the game, since you can't prove that you're a Resistance member. Only the moderator knows it.
I could PM a fellow in private "Hey, I'm from the Resistance member. Trust me." But for all he knows I could be a spy.

I've been playing tabletop Resistance for years. One of my favourite games. But for me the fun is playing (and drinking) around the table with people you know. Not sure if I'd enjoy the forum game as much, so I'll pass.
Wait? No killing? Aw phuck! I wanted to go all Bulletproof Berzerker at night.
