a4plz seems to have disappeared, while babark is finally speaking. drealmer7 is managing to keep an entire conversation going on his own. The mayor slumps in his chair, looking exhausted.

At 8 pm, another vote is taken. Once again, the mayor looks pained as he counts six hands raised, just short of majority.

Suddenly, a4plz vaults through the broken window, races across the room, throws himself into a chair, and raises his hand.

The room falls silent. Stunned, the mayor counts the hands again. And again.

The group leads HijacK out of the town hall and into the square, where someone has set up an old-fashioned gallows.

HijacK is forced up the steps, still protesting his innocence. A4plz places the noose around his neck and tightens it carefully, then apologizes again and drops the trapdoor.


HijacK has been lynched.


The body dangles there, twitching slightly. Then it becomes still. A4plz quickly checks the corpse, but turns up nothing of significance. A watch, a pile of change, a wallet with a few bills and a student card in it, and a USB drive.

Talking quietly among themselves, uncertain what they’ve accomplished, the townsfolk move off into the darkness toward their respective houses.
