a4plz: Uh.. I've already been posting observations about the setup? ._.

There's not much to analyse player-wise at the moment since everybody is generically poop-talking each other and claiming their own innocence. I think I'm the only person who's suggested any particular strategy beyond today's vote.

New snacks by the way; I'm breaking out the orange poppyseed muffins this time~
avatar
lotsofchickenwings: HSL is still on my ass. It's not for the orange poppyseed muffins I've been shitting out of it.
(emphasis added)
Why do you say that? Did I miss something?

avatar
cristigale: 10v3 seems to make sense to give town a bigger cushion to conceal the power roles. For that reason, I find it less likely we have a third party.
avatar
lotsofchickenwings: i don't like your statement "to give town a bigger cushion." sounds like it's an entity outside of you. like you're not part of "town". Like you're not one of us.

You are going to be casting lots of votes if you vote every time someone mentions town as a third party. I give you credit for looking for a scum tell and voting on something that stands out. I think you'll find, though, that this is common language. Finding scum on day one is hard. That's why more often than not, a townie is lynched on D1; players are grasping at any little thing because we don't have anything concrete yet to go on.
avatar
cristigale: we don't have anything concrete yet to go on.
Well, bookwyrm was offering shoes earlier.

It would clash with the tiara. Definite fashion faux paus for the Prettiest Princess. :)

babark: I still keep my vote as drealmer7, as the person who seems to be most level-headed and attempting to avoid undue attention.
Very suspicious behaviour! :D
avatar
Bookwyrm627: I'd really like to see something a little more than this. Please comment on a specific instance, or something.
avatar
babark: Hahah....just a general trend in this thread...been going on for 11 pages now, and getting a bit hard to follow. I do think I'm picking up the lingo now, though.

I'm not scum, no worries. Just the act of being reasonable in such a situation is very suspicious :D.
Is your vote on drealmer a serious vote? If so, can you provide an example where he is "attempting to avoid undue attention"? How does being level-headed and reasonable make a player scummy?

BTW, it does take a while to get use to the lingo. The commonly used abbreviations section of the wiki is really helpful.
avatar
HijacK: Ok, I just got back. What did I miss? Are we still in RVS?
Are you done with finals? We appear to be moving out of RVS. Would be great to hear your impressions so far.

You may need to bold the Unvote in order for the vote to count. Depends on the mod.

There's always a first. ;)
Why do we have a no edit rule, anyway? I'm not sure what problem is being solved there.
Editing allows you to delete your "slips", manipulate whatever information you said or gave and if editing was allowed, well... Code of Honor is not a thing to be trusted in Mafia games...
Ohh, I was thinking it was to stop people changing their votes in the past or something. That wouldn't look very legit if the timestamp was more than a few minutes later.

Thank god these days have time limits, because I can't keep the muffins coming forever.
Yeah, vote changing as well. And many other reasons I didn't think of.
avatar
Dessimu: Yeah, vote changing as well. And many other reasons I didn't think of.
Say for instance I state, "I want to be replaced." But then later I edit the post to say, "I'm going to be a responsible adult someday."

Those statements mean two very different things.

The ability to go back and ask a player why he/she said this or that and hold them to their statements is key.
avatar
flubbucket:
Sadly, both statements are almost always a lie. Who would want to be replaced? Crazy!! Responsible human being? It's like Pinocchio's wish to be a real boy.
avatar
Bookwyrm627: Would you be willing to volunteer to prove you aren't scum? ;)

If you have lingo questions and such, feel free to ask. I'm asking for an observation from you about some specific aspect of the game, whether it be a mechanic or a player. For example, Flub just gave some analysis about Drealmer, people have commented on No Lynch, people have commented on role claims.

Thanks for the suggestion. Found out what "flip" meant now :D.
Again, I'm not sure whether or not my vote is a serious one, but given the current situation (nothing has really happened yet), I'm not sure a serious vote is possible. Still, best to make SOME guess rather than none, at least even if it is wrong, it will push things forward and help create a situation where people's reactions may help find out the actual scum.

Having said that, if I were scum, I'd totally be super organisey and helpful and doing everything to rally people behind me (or at least agree with me) so as to draw attention away from myself.
Not sure how I can prove I'm not scum, however. I give you my word? :D

Nothing too serious, but I find your saying "if I were scum, I would dominate in helpful way to stay out of sight myself" like a two faced thing. On one hand, you are right... For now you are getting heat and you do little to cool that heat off. And if you were trying to help Town, you would indeed draw some of that heat from you onto the other player.

On the other hand... Your ideas are making me doubt your allignement. Why would you only be organisey and helpful only if you were scum? Lets believe you are townie for a moment... You should do the exact same thing! Be organisey and helpful! For Town!

So again, nothing too major here, but being helpful for Town if you are townie is just as "a must" as you would help Mafia if you were scum.

Then again, I might be expecting too much for a current situation.

What you are describing is LAMIST (Look At Me I'm So Town), where someone is trying so hard to appear town that it's scummy.

@Hijack, I saw you post briefly asking if we were still in RVS and then nothing. Any thoughts you'd like to share? You have not made a significant post all game. Not sure if you are trying to lay low and avoid being noticed or if real life has been that busy.

As the evening draws on, some people start getting agitated, perceiving that others aren't as invested in the discussion as they are themselves.

The mayor brings in another round of muffins, orange poppyseed this time, but they are generally ignored.

The talk continues, but it's slowing down as the hour grows later...

Dessimu already covered this pretty well, but we need to have objective facts about what people have said. When playing in Real Life, if people say something, they can't take it back. We need the same objectivity on the forum.
