Without a single moment of mourning for poor old dead Ulysses, the "family" began tearing into each other, squabbling over every little thing like a bunch of chickens without enough feed on go around.
Each member was seemingly more despicable than the last; but most of you probably got this behavior from Ulysses, anyway, so it is only appropriate.

Still, with his last speech to all of you, he made it seem like he wished he would have pulled out every time, and that none of you existed (so how could he care about your children or spouses?) Surely there must be one of you that Ulysses at least thought of fondly from time to time that he favored over the rest of you awful excuses for humans, but no one is sure, and that matters not now, as no one will ever know either way.

After what seems to be the longest day ever, with lots of vitriol and finger-pointing and whining and crying, the "family" has decided to kill someone. Erin started the attacks, and Elizabeth and Michael Sr and Eunice soon joined and after some time enough people ganged up enough on them that Mariah decided that was enough of everything and decided to end it.

And there was Catherine. Who was the one who drew enough feelings of distrust and malevolence from others that after just half a single day on the island, even though it may have felt like a whole week, it still hadn't been that long into the day, and had suspicions mounding from a majority of the group

Adam finally been decided that Catherine must be killed and grabbed the sword off the mantle - which had been cleaned by Constance after the beheading of Ulysses by Eunice and then placed back in its proper place - and escorted Catherine with blade in her back out of the living room, through the hallway, out the foyer and front door to the outside.

A warm breeze of fresh air hit all of you as you made your ways out, and the sun had shone brightly, as almost to be defiant to the coldness and darkness that the living room was. There was a subtle flowery smell coming to all of you as well in the breeze. This allowed some of you feel oddly at peace with what was about to happen, but, again, to others it just didn't seem right to be this beautiful while doing something so horrible.

Catherine continued to be escorted up a small hill and over it, a ways away from the house, but not too close to where Ulysses body had ended up, discarded like none of you cared at all. Though Constance would have had Eugene and Michael at least to have dug a hole and buried him, they did not care to do so, and so he rotted in the sun at some distance while Catherine would also be left in this condition as well.

After everyone had made their way over Adam said, "Okay, here it goes" , and with a swift stroke, Catherine was beheaded, and dead.

A quick search of her belongings reveal a knife, with dried blood still on it, that seems to be the one that killed Ulysses

Lifthrasil has been killed. He was Catherine (Jones) Adderly, Neutral Serial Killer.

Ixamyakxim: *suspense is killing me...

also probably scum, later on tonight*

yogsloth: Why would scum be killed later tonight?

We just lynched the only "Town Vig" eligible to shoot tonight, right?

Right?
I think he was saying scum would kill him later tonight

And I thought I phrased that so hilariously perfect! It's not the suspense that's going to be killing scum later tonight, as well as me now.

It's me, getting killed by suspense now ... and also by scum, tonight.

So much less funny when I have to explain it.
Ah, good, the bump I was hoping for.

I am not sure if I should congratulate you all or yell at you for lynching the one you had to lynch on day 1. I was really hoping for a lengthier and bloodier game... Guess the setup should have been open, but at least I hope you had fun with it.
Holy crap, it's over.

I understood it perfectly, and laughed quite hard. As I did a bunch of times this game.

But, yep, it's over!

That was tons of fun, really! Thanks JMich!

Weirdly enough, yes. Let me dig up the PMs.
Wow.

Would anyone mind if If single-handedly claimed credit for winning by virtue of my massive gut-only last-moment vote change to shift momentum?

Hey, thanks.

Roles
You were Ulysses Adderly, leader of this family and one of the world's wealthiest men. Unfortunately, your health is rapidly failing, and since you knew your family wouldn't be able to divide your wealth amongst them without huge fights when you pass, you had gathered them all here on this island to test them and decide who is worthy of your legacy.
It seems though that not everyone agreed with your plan and they decided to take matters into their own hands. Seems like there will be fighting and bickering after all.
Town Plot Device, you die to start the game.

You are Eugene Adderly, the eldest son of Ulysses Adderly. You know that by right you should inherit everything, or at least the lion's share of it. You do believe that you could have convinced your father of that, but someone made sure you missed your chance. You need to find out who would deny you your rightful inheritance, and make them pay.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Eunice (Adderly) Collins, the first born daughter of Ulysses Adderly. While your brother Eugene Adderly may argue otherwise, if the lion's share should go to the first born, it means it should go to you. Who cares if you were born with breasts, nature shouldn't stand in the way of money. Now to find out who wishes you harm, and get rid of them.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Michael Adderly, the second son of Ulysses Adderly. You are the one your father entrusted to take care of the business in the main land, so you were certain that the lion's share of the inheritance would go to you. Who cares about order of birth, it's what you do with your life that determines your worth.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Constance (Adderly) Williams, the second daughter of Ulysses Adderly. You are the one who took care of your father when his health started failing him, and so you should get the lion's share of the money.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Adam Collins, the husband of Eunice (Adderly) Collins. Quite frankly, you're only here because Eunice (Adderly) Collins dragged you. You are ashamed to admit it, but you are scared of that woman, and you wouldn't mind if something was to happen to her. You would never do it yourself though, you are too afraid of what she might do should she find out.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Allen Perkins, the bastard son of Eugene Adderly. You came to know of your father when your mother passed away, and you found her diary. You appeared before Ulysses Adderly, who was willing to accept you as part of the family, assuming you proved your worth, unlike your father who rejected the possibility of you being his son. You came from nothing, and this would be a chance for you to live like a king, and you are not going to let someone take that away from you.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Michael Adderly Jr., son of Michael Adderly. You were old enough to remember your mother, even if your sister, Mariah Adderly doesn't. You didn't hear of the rumours about your father's involvement in her death until you were much older, but you still recall the change in demeanor from the people who knew him. You don't really trust your stepmother, Erin (Hawles) Adderly, especially since you could have sworn you've seen her with guns and knives on her person, but she has always denied that. But then, who else would be killing people here?
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Mariah Adderly, daughter of Michael Adderly. Your mother died while you were still a baby, but when your father married Erin (Hawles) Adderly, you found the mother you never had. You don't care about the nonsense your brother Michael Adderly Jr. says about your stepmother being dangerous, you know she would never hurt a fly. You can't really say the same about him though.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Elizabeth Adderly, daughter of Erin (Hawles) Adderly and Michael Adderly. Since your father is often away on business and your mother is trying to bond with her stepchildren, you often find yourself visiting your aunts and uncles. Eugene Adderly is aloof and doesn't seem to care that much about you, or his son, but Catherine (Jones) Adderly does seem to dote on both of you. Eunice (Adderly) Collins does scare you a bit, but Marvin Williams always seems to soothe you. You really like your extended family, and it's kinda hard to imagine any of them capable of killing people. Then again, there's quite a bit of money involved.
You are Town Vanilla, your power is to die for your team. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Marvin Williams, the husband of Constance (Adderly) Williams. You were an army surgeon but was dishonourably discharged when a senior officer died while you were operating on him. You returned back home, changed your name, and hid your military background, posing instead as a trader from the colonies. While you do love your wife, you find her fascination with the family's money an unhealthy obsession, since you already have enough money to live the rest of your lives in luxury. While you don't give a crap about the money, someone is trying to kill you, and you'll have none of that.
You are Town Doctor. Each night, you can choose one person to protect. If that person is shot, you can prevent them from dying. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Erin (Hawles) Adderly, Michael Adderly's second wife. His first wife died in a tragic boat accident, though some say there was some foul play from his part. Add to those rumours the resentment from his children, and who can blame you from always carrying a small derringer with you, no matter where you go, or what the rules are? Seeing as there is at least one murderer amongst you, this seems like the right choice.
You are Town Vigilante. Each night other than the first, you can choose a target to shoot. That person will die. You win when all threats to town have been eliminated.

You are Catherine (Jones) Adderly, Eugene Adderly's wife, and you've had enough of it. You've been together with Eugene Adderly for years, and he was always stingy with his, no, with your money. He always claimed you'd be able to spend as much as you'd like when his father died, and you've been patient so far. You even put up with his bastard, who does seem to have been conceived while you were married to him. But a quick talk with your father-in-law proved that you were unlikely to get a penny, since he was planning to test his children and grandchildren to see who would get what, and you knew your husband wouldn't have the courage to participate in anything dangerous. So you decided to eliminate any competition there might be.
You are Neutral Serial Killer. Each night you can choose one person to stab to death. You win when all threats to you have been eliminated.

I must say that was one of the more entertaining day ones I've participated in, nice setup :-)

Agreed, same for me, and I knew it wasn't just because I had an objective view. It was the most interesting D1 I'd seen since starting playing (I know, not lots of games, but still, I get the general idea certainly of D1s) pretty much from the start of the game, imo, and stayed to through to the end.

Kind of wild.

The relationships, "flavor" and game storyline made RVS a lot more fun than usual by providing a bit of good Role Playing "push" in certain directions for all the characters. I liked that quite a bit too!

The setup was one I had stumbled on the wiki back when I first started playing, though I never managed to find again. Flavor was a last day thing, since I was thinking of doing a "mob meets in a remote hotel to make plans, but a serial killer is in their midst" at first.

Couple of things that I would do differently if I ran it again, but the flavor does seem to have been a hit.
Amazing! Actually, I am speechless. And it seems lxam was right saying "My PM indicates there might be 1 scum..." Oh my...

Was this game by any chance the quickest one ever?
